North Stand Construction Discussion

Manchester, Victorian, Red Brick.

I actually like brick. Thankfully there are a lot of new buildings in Manchester which have been built with brick, and they have turned out fantastic.

I would be nice to know why City and Populous chose brick for the lower exterior of the hotel, rather than other types of exterior cladding.

The Hotel exterior CGI's are slightly different to what is being built.

Because they are fucking mahoosive, and connected to each other, and the cable ring, and clad, and propped and heavy. The actual drop on the pivot takes about 6 minutes. And about 18 minutes to pivot onto the ground. But the prep work takes days. And the dismantling and removal too.
Nonsense, I took down a 6x4 shed the other day in an hour with just a crowbar.

The bricks look cheap, now Nori are being produced again there is no excuse.

Look at Salford Lads club, the bricks are unworn, just the roof that has been the problem.

And there it is. Everton has red bricks. Bricks are red. Sure there are white bricks but they get dirty and look cheap.
Think they wanted a contrast with the vast expanses of dark grey “ shaft wall “ which are appearing , so architecturally the “ multi-red” facing bricks seem a good choice to me !!

Remember the proposed corner design for the South Stand when they released the artist impression?

There were seating bridges connecting the stand to the east and CB stands with two screens above them.

Looking back I am glad they did a single new tier for the north stand , having that extra gap in between tiers 2 and.3 doesn’t look as good

The video is about the Coop Live Arena.

Which includes some great shots of the Manchester skyline.

Watch in 1440p HD, white cog.

Here’s a fresh look at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester, filmed in June 2025. This exciting project—set to become the UK’s largest indoor arena—next to the Etihad Stadium and continues to define Manchester’s fast-changing eastern skyline.
