North Stand Construction Discussion

Yea hence my use of the word passenger.

The hotel has two service lifts. Don't think the office has any dedicated ones though. Usually the lift manufacturer will hold off testing and commissioning them till the very end, from what I have encountered.
Are they two service lifts or goods lifts? A service lift used to be called a dumb waiter.

Nah, service lifts are massive and are used for moving fixtures and fittings or deliveries around.
A dumb waiter is a small lift that hold a few trays of food, etc between the kitchen and the restaurant when they are on different floors.

Worked in both Lift and Crane Industries since 1960 A goods lift is a lift with no floor call buttons in the the cage and can't take passengers, a passenger lift can take goods also, that is why the contract load plate in the car states both the number of Passengers and and the max load it can carry eg 8 persons or 630kg. A service lift is a small lift that can carry documents, crockery and cutlery etc between floors. A dumb waiter was a small lift that was operated by hand with via a rope. Await your comments.

A few months off being finished? :-/

I'm not being horrible as he is making an effort, but he really hasn't got a clue.

Decent video though.

All the same as you say, but with different terminology, 'service' replacing 'goods', somewhere along the line since the 60s. Not worth getting pissy about, we are clearly talking about the same thing.
