North Stand Construction Discussion

Will the new North Stand have a higher or lower capacity than the South Stand?
The increase of the North is less than the increase was for the approved replica of the South stand, that I know for sure. But whether the resultant capacity is higher or lower, I will check and come back to you with when I have the time.

All the same as you say, but with different terminology, 'service' replacing 'goods', somewhere along the line since the 60s. Not worth getting pissy about, we are clearly talking about the same thing.
Come on now, to have a row about lifts on a football forum is just wrong on so many levels.

You sure? Gut says it isn't, but I'd need to check.

I believe the south south third tier added ~5,500 seats and the north stand extension adds ~7,500. Not the exact numbers but in those ball parks.

The south stand might feel like more than it was as it came with the added, and now removed, 3 rows around the front of the bottom tiers and the extra blocks on the third tiers at the south end.

Think there might be there are bands and performers that only play stadiums and don't bother with arenas.
Given the price of oasis tickets, and the success of Gallagher hill, I’d say there was scope for a main concert in the stadium and sideshow in the arena, let’s face it most end up watching on the screens anyway. I’m not saying it’s the same but there is a market/demand, just to be part of something like this, especially if it is priced right & the brothers make their way through the stadium, up the lift, through the hotel & across to the co op for an impromptu gig, knock out some new music etc

The south stand added more than the north did, if they had replicated the 3 tier stand they would have got more in than the 2 tier arrangement. That I did remember from the application and previous discussions.

Whether that directly translates to more overall though (because more may have been retained in this way), I'd need to check.

Not for me, don't like stadium or any open air gig, even for bands I like, try and avoid arenas too if I can.

wonder if City Hall will ever be used for live music, local boxing etc ? There’s even scope for outdoor events when you have a retractable roof, possibilities are endless

Yep, 7,910 added for the north stand, 6,250 added to the south stand, They also added 1,500 around the pitch when the south stand was done but then subsequently removed.
I thought the south stand was a bigger increase than that.

The approved previous north stand application (104315/FO/2013/N2) that 'replicated' the south stand arrangement would have added 8122 seats. So I took it that the south stand added that amount as it was a mirror image.

If the club had opted to just replicate the south stand as per the approval they had, they would have got circa 200 more seats in. But not a two tier stand, and hotel and square etc.

Edit, see clarification below.
