The reason the club put the rail seating down the sides is so fans in the middle can still see. If the rail seats were in the centre, people standing would block the view from the sides—especially the far corner.


I think they should’ve just added more rows of rail seating all the way across, instead of the weird “n” shape they’ve gone with. The cynical part of me thinks it’s more about money—seated tickets in the middle will cost more.


Sightlines to the pitch should be totally fine though. The architects will have made sure of that. You might not see the rest of the stadium, but the view of the pitch will be clear.

The back of the stand tapers off, those purlins left in the corners will provide zero obstruction to people right in those corners. if the stand when straight up, yes they're would be an issue.

All looks a bit of a mish mash to me the stadium and will date badly. Should have built a new one. 80,000 and future proofed.

All very interesting but I'm not sure it answers the question of whether or not the east stand roof obscures the views from the back corner of NSL3 as it appears to on the picture posted by @Nev66

Said this when the South Stand extension was proposed, this issue was political and Im guessing they were concerned about the public reaction of abandoning a relatively new stadium Due to the design of the roof it was always going to be difficult and expensive to extend with a number of compromises that why IMHO this is the end of any significant development / stand extensions

Agree however this would have all been simulated virtually and as pointed out already there is no reference as to how the picture was taken, could have been held high standing up from a spot that is actually not going to be a seat IF the picture is the reality then its poor

I actually think the exterior of the stadium already looks a bit dated – and it’d be even worse if it wasn’t for the South Stand expansion.


Inside though, it’s absolutely class. Iconic. It strikes the perfect balance – modern enough to be comfortable, but old and historic enough to still have that proper football feel you just don’t get with brand new grounds. It’s got something unique about it.


Once all the work’s finished, we’ll probably end up with some sort of wrap around the outside. I’m not too bothered, to be honest. I don’t want it looking like Disneyland every matchday. A football ground should be functional – not fancy.

I love the inside of the stadium, superb views and plenty of leg room.

You have to be a midget to watch football at the Swamp in any sort of comfort.
