You’re right. There isn’t really a point at all. They could quite easily just have a safe standing section at the back of a third tier.

Looks cool though doesn’t it?

I suppose they were never going to line up exactly as the edge of the bloc is tapered - it doesn’t run at a 90 degree angle - and so there will inevitably be irregular spacing between the seats across different rows.

However the people installing them could have done a better job at evening out the spaces between each seat across each of the rows - looks like they’ve just put a cluster of seats tightly together in the middle and then spaced out towards the end of the row.

Maybe the construction workers installing the seats just got tired? ;-)

We've gone from an uneven roof, to uneven rows of seats. :-)

It's nearly winter, the wife usually leaves her's until spring.

You are right! They also already had planning approval to mirror it, and the experience of doing it previously.

Improving the atmosphere has always been stated a key consideration. You could think that as throwaway PR, but the extent they went to keep it a single tier, the structural transfer acrobatics, new approvals, designs etc, even the most vocal cynic can't really argue otherwise. Obviously they will increase revenue, otherwise there would be no point. But real efforts and moves have been made to improve the atmosphere. In the design and the build of it at least, to follow through with the pricing and allocation.
