North Stand Construction Discussion

You've got every right not to care.

It was only one post.

Maybe I should have posted it in the atmosphere thread instead?.

I do care.

Seeing 13,500 rail seats compared to our 3000 rail seats is very frustrating and disappointing to me.

I'm sure you don't feel like that about it, which is fair enough.
You could hear a pin drop at OT the other night

Tuesday night from block 212.

Absolutely spot on.
He seems to get a hard on posting photos of the swamp and defending how quiet the rags are.
The last time I pointed this out a zealous mod gave me a bollocking and tried to be cute !

Grow up Bert.(hard on)

I'll post what I want Bert.

If Ric, Jim, or another mod tell me otherwise, that's OK by me.

If you don't like what I post, including pictures of the North stand construction, put me on ignore. Problem solved for you Bert. That goes for Gordyola as well.

I’ve never wanted to be a bricklayer, even though I’m a great pallet stacker, and you could put a spirit level on the pallets I stack. :-)

To be fair, during my decades of taking construction pictures, most of the brickwork has been amazing, especially across the city centre residential and office developments. Bricklaying really is an amazing skill when done properly. Especially on freezing weeks like this week. Even mixing the mortar to get it right can be tricky.
You’ll amazed the amount of people that think they can do it though it’s not just the laying it’s the setting out loading out and that’s before we start

All I'll say is that, obviously, a lot of people on here won't take kindly to you referencing our lovely neighbours. Now, you're not breaking any rules doing so; there's a whole thread dedicated to them in the general forum, after all. There's also (I think) a thread about other stadia developments. But it's something that you might want to bear in mind on this thread. This isn't criticism, by the way. Just a suggestion. The thumbscrews are still up on the shelf*.Have a good day.

*For now!

No probs Jim. Noted. I won't post United related posts on the thread again. :-)

I'm not that offended by them, but I can see how some would be! Best stick to those pics of "monstrous carbuncles" going up in the city centre and other spots in the Greater Manchester area.

;-)

Is it me, or are you not posting quite as many as you have done in the past?

Regarding the recent post above, @jrb is just raising a point about the number of seats in the North Stand that are not safe standing.

13,500 rail seats at the team not to mentioned.
3000 rail seats at the new North stand.

At least the team that is not to be mentioned are trying to create a vocal home end, but the same cannot be said for our club.

@Bert Swift raised a points about the South Stand not working case after case proves this point and the only logical solution is moving to the new North Stand but there seems to be inpass to doing this for all parties involved.

We need to look around at all different clubs around the world to see what works and what does not , no matter there location.

If the primary objective is atmosphere generation, then locating to the extended North Stand is the only logical conclusion.

New North Stand - Large level 2

* a complete, large end for the first time.
* 3000 (minimum) rail seats for singers.
* More rail seats can be added down both sides.
* General Admission (GA) seating who will naturally join in as the rear and the side standing will envelop the GA.
* The location higher up, closer to the roof, with wrap-around sides, will allow the sound to boom out.
*The inclusion of GA+ seating has no impact on any of the above.
*The small numbers to be displaced from existing seats have the good option to move, with family and friends, to better seats for the same price. They will not be disadvantaged and could be better placed.

South Stand (SS) - Small Level 1

* too small
* too low down
* one of the worst locations to generate a noise
* concrete overhang at the rear underneath SS2 deadens sound.
* split in part on either side of away fans
* displays are effective for a short time pre-match. They contribute nothing to the atmosphere once the match has started.
* In recent years, overall, the atmosphere from SS1 has been usually fair to middling, occasionally good, but can definitely be better.
* 2 levels of the SS are often entirely allocated to away fans in cup games. They usually dominate the noise in cup games.

The new North Stand provides the opportunity for a complete, large end for the first time. It offers the best chance of an improved atmosphere."

In the SS option you miss what I understand to many is a very important point - being in SS Level 0 (I think we need to take notice of club's renumbering of L1 & L2 to L0 & L1) means being located NEXT to the Away Fans - now for me it doesnt matter either way but for many it does

You mean that they want to be near away fans?
