North Stand Construction Discussion

Yep - reading back what I had written, I didn't make that clear did I? doh!

I understand that people don't LIKE change, but nearly every other major club has an END which is purely for home fans, preferably to make a racket. Arsenal is the other club similar to us.
Is it because some people spend more time gesturing to away fans than supporting and watching the game?.
My personal belief is that we just do not have the demographic to fill an end with noisy , partizan supporters.
Our most loyal fans are FOC's, as I experience at away games, and that is not a criticism , compared to European ultras who are often just kids with energy.

Give us an end they said and we will bring the noise, now they don't want an end it seems.

80,000 seater stadium

All I'll say is that, obviously, a lot of people on here won't take kindly to you referencing our lovely neighbours. Now, you're not breaking any rules doing so; there's a whole thread dedicated to them in the general forum, after all. There's also (I think) a thread about other stadia developments. But it's something that you might want to bear in mind on this thread. This isn't criticism, by the way. Just a suggestion. The thumbscrews are still up on the shelf*.Have a good day.

*For now!

Fwiw, I saw those points as relevant to this discussion, and the reaction is harsh. Possibly more for the allocation thread, but certainly not completely off piste here either. Didn't have anything to say in response, but didn't mind them one bit.

I get the sight of anything utd related can annoy people. Sometimes we can also be above that, particularly when there is a valid point.

I'm not that offended by them, but I can see how some would be! Best stick to those pics of "monstrous carbuncles" going up in the city centre and other spots in the Greater Manchester area.

;-)

Is it me, or are you not posting quite as many as you have done in the past?

CP and SS are pretty much posting daily and weekly updates.

I've decided to go to 2-3 weeks so there's a visible change from ground level when I do a construction picture update.

I don't see the point in taking pictures weekly if there isn't much change at ground level.

I posted pictures I took from block 212 as I don't normally sit and stand there.

@asahartford1, you are so spot on with this

We need a vocal home end. @Bert Swift proved with his points, the current acoustics setup doesn't work

If people are happy, where are they in the South Stand, then just stay where you are, but we do need a vocal end

But the club and executives are going in the wrong direction against most fans' wishes for a Blue Wall

If the club wants a vocal home end, like what is pictured below, then stop putting more corporate sections because all it's going to happen here is a Club Wembley, where there are loads of empty seats.

If we all want what's in this picture, then the lower level will need to be all rail seating, and there would need to be more railed seating on level 2, as noted in @jrb

To get the most vocal support in this section, set up a group on a page on here called the North Stand or something to get all the vocal fans together

They are not going to change the configeration now so we are left with how it is now, if we had 3000 singers in the north stand (the rail seats) it would be loud as fuck.
The club has built it, it's up to the fan groups/fans to fill it with singers.

@pride in battle, let's see this happen ...... Someone set up a We Are The North Stand Page on here and get all the vocal fans to the new North Stand

Tuesday night from block 212.

I always appreciate seeing any pics of the stadium as I live down sarf!

Off topic mate. ;-)

I do the city centre costruction roundups once a month on a Sunday. I tend to spend most of the day in town taking 100 of pictures, sorting through them, editing them, and posting them. So I need a full day. ATM I’ve not had much spare time, City matches are all over the place, home and away, some on Sunday’s, the weather hasn’t been great, and the days are getting darker. I will definitely do one before the end of the year as long as I get a decent weather on a Sunday. I do the city centre construction roundups on a Sunday because the construction sites are all quiet, and the car parks aren’t monitored, meaning I can go on the top levels of car parks and take pictures from up there without getting stopped by the car park security guards. I’ve got a set routine which I tend to stick by when I do a city centre construction roundup.

For safety reasons alone, you’d think SSL3 would be all safe standing. One over exuberant fan loses his balance up there and a few hundred people could be avalanched down that tier. Don’t know how it’s never happened.
It has happened mate, happened to me last year in the derby when they scored in the last minute. Some bloke behind me stood on his chair but then fell forward, knocked a few pf us down infront of him. I nearly broke my nose
