The "General Admission" capacity of the 2 central blocks of the expanded NSL2 will be about 3100. Even if they don't make the entire tier safe standing, I think there would definitely be enough demand from relocaters/new season ticket holders to fill at least 3100 rail seats. If you include the "GA+" seats, the total rises to 3500.

I think the club could agree to this, with a mix of rail and normal seats in the North stand giving a range of options for people. 3000+ singers under the new roof designed for good accoustics could create an effective second home end and spread noise around the stadium from that end, it would also encourage noise to spread across the rest of the seated North Stand.

Ideally the whole second tier would be safe standing, but a 3000+ section isn't a bad compromise either, we know how vocal 3000 singers together can be from away ends. I just doubt whether there would be enough demand for 7000 rail seats in the North stand as it may be difficult to convince enough vocal fans to move from the South Stand, though I really wish I'm proven wrong.

If the demand is there, they could always expand the rail seating sections there to the other blocks either side if needed. I think if the club are serious about making the North stand a home end, it would be good to start surveying fans to get an idea of numbers and plan accordingly. Rail seats are from back forward.

Can’t put them in middle as described due to sight lines.
 
Just 3k rail seats. That’s only the size of a typical away end despite the expansion alone being like 7k seats before you add in how much the original 2nd tier holds as well.

It’s now clear that the dream of this being a City end is dead. It’s just another standard area of the ground now. It certainly begs the question of why they didn’t just build another 3rd tier like with the south stand build. Instead we’re left with this huge Kop-like structure that’s going to be full of day trippers and tourists.

Really hope the fan groups release statements on this disappointment.
 
As someone who is unlikely to enjoy the new facilities, this all seems very promising. I hope some of the moaners on here recall the facilities at Maine Road and realise the club is making progress, and if the prices put you off there is National League football nearby with tickets much far north of £20. I don’t think City will struggle to fill the additional seats, at least for 35 minutes in each half ;-)
 
In addition to the atmosphere, the expanded North Stand will create a legacy by establishing new pathways for the next generation of Manchester City fans to enjoy matches at the Etihad Stadium. To achieve this, we will ringfence a significant number of tickets specifically for fans aged 21 or under.

Reading between the lines this isn’t a good thing in terms of atmosphere. It basically means it’s going to be another family area since they’re talking about 21 and under rather than 18-25.
 
Did anyone receive a survey from the club about demand to have rail seating in the new stand? I completed one for 1894 but not one from the club unless we’re talking about the one done years ago before Covid before safe standing was even introduced.

During these discussions, it was clear that fans share our view on the importance of adding rail seating to the expanded North Stand. As such, the Club will introduce a minimum of 3,000 rail seats as part of the expansion, with the option of increasing this allocation ahead of opening should there be further demand.
