North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

I don't know how many times I have to say this but,

A choice between a junior S/T or a Junior F/G, I would take the F/G.

You seem it a bit blinded by the £75, or more accurately £55 as pointed out by TOTH.

I couldn't give a toss about paying £7.50 a month to enable me to buy tickets at lower than half the price they would be.

Actually bored with this now, but if we had 51k S/T holders there would have been fewer there on Wednesday than there actually was!

£55 child correction.

That's fair enough.

If you're happy with your current season ticket.

As for your 51k season ticket, Wednesday, analogy, you can't say that. You don't know that for a fact. You're just surmising that.

Don't worry, you don't have to reply, if you're bored with it, let's move on.

25 double deckers parked behind the both the SS & NS ready to go to town along priority lanes at full time.

What an embarassing solution for the great City of Manchester, and by association, Manchester City

8000 more fans in 18 months time plus the arena audiences......fail to plan, plan to fail !!

The transport infrastructure serving the Etihad complex must be amongst the worst in Europe.

It cant remain as it is .....elite venues.....third world services !!
Quite right.

The combined capacities of the Etihad and Co-Op Live will be 85,500 from next year. Yet there is one Metrolink stop servicing one line (<Town:Ashton>), a handful of buses and banned parking within a certain radius of the stadium with no Park+Ride alternative options out in place. And then there’s nothing else. Your legs are your only other option to get anywhere.

Over in Trafford Park, United’s capacity is 74,000 yet they have 5 Metrolink stops close by connected to 5 of the different Metrolink directions (Town, Airport/EDids, Alty, TraffCent and MediaC/Eccles), a railway station, more bus routes, larger road network, water taxis on the canal in either direction from Sale and Town and even a ‘River Cruise’ from Town.

I think after several years restricting the supply of season tickets there is going to be huge demand for these tickets especially from existing season ticket holders who are parents whose children weren't old enough to be taken when season tickets stopped being sold but are old enough now. Such parents are likely to see this as potentially the only opportunity to take their child on a regular basis as it would allow them to move their seat and get another seat or seats next to it. In this situation I think the parents will just overlook the £75 premium child stealth tax -
I wonder if City will give any priority to such season ticket holding parents.

I also think it's really poor that City will come nowhere close to even trying to meet the demand for season tickets (or even flexi golds) from predominantly local fans and instead keep tickets back to sell them for £70 per game.
Danny Wilson has said families of Blues / juniors will be prioritised for a large chunk of the additional flexi gold season cards (like for this season). I can’t rember a number being put on that assurance but I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s half of the additional flexi golds. That’s around the ground not just in the expanded North Stand.

I love City. I don’t care for our senior admin / management who aren’t Blues. They said, I think the decision to expand the ground in the face of the legal and media tornado is a very brave one. Chapeau to the Sheikh, Khaldoon, Soriano and Danny Wilson and Roel de Vries for doing this.

As I usually say, it’s important Blues try to help each other wherever we can. Most of the help
I get is through being part of the OSC but there are akso loads of kind Blues on this forum.

Did you ever get the chance to meet Thaskin?
It was after the Fulham comeback loss, just before Sven was sacked. R kid told Thaskin to keep Sven but the despot gave very political answer that made Sven’s sacking sound inevitable. This when I thought it was a good idea to boot Thaskin up the arse but there was a metal railing and 4 odd job look alike in the way. Probably a lucky escape lol.

It would be nothing short of a disgrace if only 1500 new flexi golds are released to non-season ticket holding families, (if half of the 3000 that will be released go to the kids of current ST holders), whilst the stadium expands by 8000+ seats.

The 3000 number is already far too low, meaning we'd somehow have less ST holders (roughly 36000 + 3600 Flexi golds) than we did when the South Stand expansion opened, despite having 8000 more seats.

As a regular adult matchday member it feels as though I will have a very, very slim chance of getting a season ticket when the expansion is open. Even if I am lucky enough I will have to pay £150 extra for the privilege.

If the new capacity is 62k then the additional season cards / flexi golds will be closer to 4k.

If you’ve been to enough games as a match day members you will get a season card / flexi-gold

That would of been funny Tim. 4 heavies on top of you after you kicked Thaskin up the arse.

You're a S/T holder as I am.

You must see regulars near that don't attend every game.

I know of 3 from my small group of associates who didn't go on Wednesday, seats remained empty.

Admittedly the fixture calendar and authorities are to blame with stupid mid week games in the middle of winter, but that is another issue.

Every time the flexi-gold is brought up on here, there seems to be a big bit of misplaced aggression from "proper" ST holders about those who've bought them. I'm one of those. Would I have bought a normal season ticket if I had the option? Yes, undoubtably I would, but that wasn't available to me. I hadn't been in the financial situation to afford one until now.

Am I a City fan and want to get to as many games as possible? Yes.

Do I want to have the same/guaranteed seat? Yes.

Do I want to pay less to attend games? Yes.

Do I want to have to spend a ridiculous sum of money in July every year buying tickets on my credit card and spending the rest of the season paying that off and accruing interest? No.

There's a misplaced anger at those that have bought flexi-gold. It's a far better deal than buying tickets on a matchday membership. I don't see why anyone would convert from a gold/platinum to a flexi-gold as it's doesn't make any sense, but those lucky enough to have "proper" season tickets would do exactly the same as I did if they were in the situation I was as a matchday member without a season ticket. You cannot blame people for buying them if they are the only thing on offer; blame the club.
I reckon F/G holders will have first dibs when new S/T's are released in the future.

I like to think so anyway

Season card hoarding equates to artificial demand that probably pushes up season card and match day prices. Tbf City have been trying to address the no show problem. There was also a big effort from many Blues to give Forest tickets away for peanuts or for free.

There was a lot of noise about people being priced out of the Forest game but they needn’t have been. Obviously, travelling distances, work etc means some Blues have to plan their visits days or weeks in advance.

Plus for the night matches you sometimes miss the last train
I live in Cheshire dive and either pay to park (get stuck in carpark)or park some distance away and walk
I’m often not home until nearly midnight
The way the council/Burnham has stopped on street parking and not put adequate public transport in place is disgusting

This is the thing. The possibility of season ticket hoarding or a no show with a flexi is minimal. Not only does the club know if you’re not taking up your seat three weeks before, but even if you take up your seat you can still sell it back to the club up to a week before in the way you would a matchday ticket - no exchange, no 1/19th business, just a refund on what you paid.

We have about 40k season ticket holders of which a mere 600 are on flexis. Flexis are not the reason prices are going up, prices were sadly going up anyway.

Even if the club were not out to maximise matchday revenue, the idea we would escape rises entirely is for the birds, with FFP/PSR pressures and a significant chunk of the ST holding fanbase rolling onto senior discounts each year, or sharing one between family and friends, plus the hoarding that clearly goes on.

It’s entirely possible that in the scheme of things a regular season ticket holder on all the cup schemes loses at least £150 a year on games they cannot attend that don’t sell on the exchange.

That said I agree with the argument the club MUST make new regular STs available and that a freeze on pricing is overdue. But there’s no guarantee that regular STs won’t cost another £150 on top one way or another, unfortunately! It’s not as if we are the rags and we can’t see what they are doing with the money they make - at least our club has been winning and investing in the club, the ground and the area.

The biggest reason for season tkt holders seats being empty for some games - is the ridiculously, unnecessary process of transferring tickets. Used to just be able to say - ere have my seats if you knew you couldn't make it.
Now - login, set them up as whatever, then have to get them to do the same etc. - palaver.
A simple fix like allowing a screenshot would be helpful. But oh no, too easy and the club want their info/data too. Convinced this is a reason for a large number of the "empty seats".

City are working on a simpler way of transferring tickets but the days of transferring screen shots have passed their heyday

It literally takes 30 seconds to set someone up and transfer the ticket, if they are already set up its a 10 second job, the only thing the other person has to do is click download.

I’ve been fined £60 for the team for Wednesday night, plus the £6 ticket fee. I only went from Victoria to the Etihad and thought if swiped on and off correctly.
