North Stand expansion - seating, ticketing etc

Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon began caring when they saw 10,000's of empty seats at the start of the 3 matches on live TV, and 10,000's of fans stood on the concourses, chanting and protesting about the match day ticket prices, and the directors not listening to the fans.
If it wasn't for the protests Sheikh Mansour and Khaldoon wouldn't have intervened personally and forced Soriano and the other Directors to reduce the price of match day tickets this season.
Fan power is incredibly underrated by some cynics. It consistently has worked.

Chelsea fans protest before their game on the day of the announcement pretty much killed the Super League. Closing down Fulham rd, berating the players and coaches on the way in, refusing to go to the game that night.

It made all the UK clubs pull out within 3 hours. They all realised their fan would do the exact same.

Well said, but the bootlickers don’t care

This picture is a pipe dream of the club and the management that run the club in Manchester.

We should all be asking the club why the management team, as quoted by Khaldoon, is going the opposite way from what Khaldoon advised he wanted a Blue Wall

We should be asking people like Danny Wilson why the blue wall is not getting delivered

To get the lower section of the new North Stand looking like this, we need the lower south stand and Kippax corner to move there, so we need to get the 1894 and fans in Kippax Corner to come together and move here

This is what Crystal Palace fans did when they set up their home end

"Holmesdale Fanatics are an independent ultra-style group supporting Crystal Palace home and away. Since our formation in 2005, the group has been based in the famous Holmesdale Road Stand at Selhurst Park.In 2019, we moved to our new permanent home behind the goal in the lower tier"

This could be achieved by setting up a website called We are the North Stand, where fans and OSC and other groups sign up to move to the North Stand

In the MLS, every new stadium being built as a mini Yellow Wall to help create atmosphere for the rest of the ground. One of the best mini Yellow Walls is the 3252 at LAFC

To deliver the support the team needs, we need to see that, at the moment, the stadium set-up does not work

"What will be better for the atmosphere? One large North Stand or a small, split, low-level South Stand?

Can we put aside who said what, to who and when or who hasn`t said what and could do. Leave the history behind and deal with the here and now.

If the primary objective is atmosphere generation, then locating to the extended North Stand is the only logical conclusion.

New North Stand - Large level 2

* a complete, large end for the first time.
* 3000 (minimum) rail seats for singers.
* More rail seats can be added down both sides.
* General Admission (GA) seating who will naturally join in as the rear and the side standing will envelop the GA.
* The location higher up, closer to the roof, with wrap-around sides, will allow the sound to boom out.
*The inclusion of GA+ seating has no impact on any of the above.
*The small numbers to be displaced from existing seats have the good option to move, with family and friends, to better seats for the same price. They will not be disadvantaged and could be better placed.

South Stand (SS) - Small Level 1

* too small
* too low down
* one of the worst locations to generate a noise
* concrete overhang at the rear underneath SS2 deadens sound.
* split in part on either side of away fans
* displays are effective for a short time pre-match. They contribute nothing to the atmosphere once the match has started.
* In recent years, overall, the atmosphere from SS1 has been usually fair to middling, occasionally good, but can definitely be better.
* 2 levels of the SS are often entirely allocated to away fans in cup games. They usually dominate the noise in cup games.

The new North Stand provides the opportunity for a complete, large end for the first time. It offers the best chance of an improved atmosphere."

We need to ask how other teams can organise a home end, but what City gives is a mish-mash of stand.

All the relevant parties need to meet up to sort out this mess, as someone said, it's our last chance to give the City a proper home end

"The small numbers to be displaced from existing seats..." they're in the north stand lower (tier 1), not the 2nd tier.

Are there supposed to be families in the upper North Stand or is it mainly FOC’s who’ve blocked younger families getting tickets together??

That’s why I’m not moving to the NS.

I’d rather have a family buy tickets together, including what would have been my ticket, at sensible family match day ticket prices on NSL2.

There’s a lot of FOC’s in this picture.

The club is f*cked when all us FOC’s, who make up the majority of our home support, drop off one by one, including me. :-(

I’m going to do a picture update this Sunday. It’s been a few weeks since the last one.

North stand level 2 isn't the family stand.

You’re right.

There should be a provision within the extra 8000 seats on the new NSL2 for families to sit together.

I’ve always thought there should be an option and a window of purchase on the OS ticket page where families can select up to 4 tickets, say, so families can sit together on a match day.

I don’t know how that could and would work in practice, but I’m sure the club and the ticket office could do that on the OS ticket page?

Spot on mate. I was true FOC yesterday berating Anthony Rag Taylor for the full 90 minutes.

As Dante said the other week, the South Stand might get better as a knock on affect: We also have a big opportunity to get more families into the North Stand like wrote.

More entertaining games like yesterday and affordable tickets and there won’t be any shortage of fans in the ground.

It’s a bit disappointing the opportunity for Blue Wall has been lost but hopefully the vocal
support from the North Stand will improve.

A final thought. I think part of the problem is the reduction of estates around Manchester, diluting our pool of potentially more passionate fans.

"It’s a bit disappointing the opportunity for Blue Wall has been lost", that feels a bit premature surely Tim?

The South Stand does not work because of the acoustics

To have a Blue Wall, as you mention, the 1894 and Kippax corner needs to move lower South Stand, look at one of the best atmospheres in the EPL, it's Crystal Palace because of the Holmesdale End, where all their singers etc, moved to one section

Regarding the atmosphere, nothing will change if we have two areas, as it dilutes the atmosphere

What happened to people already sat in that section or did they welcome being shifted sorry relocated

The opportunity HASN'T been lost.

It is there if our fans stand up and make themselves heard. It's the only opportunity MCFC will ever get again.

I agree there should be a family area, but not in level 2.
Kids want to be as close to the action as possible to try and get a glimpse of their hero's. Certainly not up in the gods so they can get an overview of play and see how the different teams formations are shaping up etc

Away fans don’t seem to struggle to make a noise. South stand was loud at times yesterday. With better organisation and more fans on board the noise won’t be a problem

Palace have about 40 fans near the front. Best atmosphere? I take it you have never been there, it is just a small group of League 2 style "daz ultras".

Acoustics were never a problem for 150 years in grounds.
