I like that mate. There's some good stuff on the soul city reissues label, I've got one by Walter and the admirations- Man oh man, massive at the 100 club and worth about £4000 on it's original label. Sadly, I cant find it on youtube. I wish I knew how to do it-I'd put it on.

Here's the world's best stomper for Glenda!

Willie Mitchell- That driving beat

Got that !! I need to look through this whole thread again and write them all down so I don't duplicate any of them !! duplicate any

As another newbie on here, I am so happy that I found this thread. Absolutely fantastic.

I am no relation to new lunar, but I have been Lunar Blue on various other boards for quiet a few years, but won't claim to be old Lunar either ;).

This is just the sort of thread I need with 2 weeks between City matches.

I am going to have to find a way to download a lot of those tracks.

I got into 'Northern' towards the end of the 70's and did get to Wigan a few times. Was living in Scotland at the time and there was a big northern scene up there with all-nighters all up the east coast. Great times and great memories.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to this thread so far, for making my day with some classic tunes and reviving my some old moves. My 2-year old grand-daughter (I was a young dad and grand-dad) is loving dancing with me and knows the words already to some of them.

Keep The Faith and CTID.

Lunar Blue - if you download something like RealPlayer, you then have the means to download just about everything onto your pc. There is also some software that lets you split audio from video but I haven't looked into that.

While I'm at it, I'll offer this :

<a class="postlink" href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEtFTynuPEg&feature=related" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SEtFTynu ... re=related</a>

I first heard this at 'Top of the Town' in Manchester way back in the late 60's. The main dj there (Gary ?) also ran a record shop next door.

I've just been to the lakes weekender at Gt Langdale. Covered in mud, scooter ran like a dream, the most surreal scooter weekender ever, listening to Northern soul in a Cumbrian cowshed! Good laugh though. Severe weather my arse.

Lunar blue-I feel violated! Welcome mate but I'm the daddy Lunar on this board and don't you ever forget it. ;0)

Which do you prefer? The Sapphires is far more polished but I love the raw quality of The Yum Yums.

prefer the YUM YUMS meself. The Sapphires version is too quick for me.

And for good measure-

- Joy Lovejoy- In orbit

Cheers 1894.

Ever heard this before? Marsha Gee but no one actually knows the real artist. Mad lyrics and a huge tune at Stafford and on the mod rallies of 1987.

- The Velvettes- Lonely girl am I.

- R Dean Taylor Ghost in my house. Motown's only white artist.

- Frances Nero- Keep on loving me. Love the trombone bridge.

- The Elgins - Heaven must have sent you.

Some more great tracks lunar - thanks. Quite a few of these Northern Soul grooves are new to me, so all the more special for hearing them for the first time.

The Joy Lovejoy track has a particularly good sound to it.

Just wanna whisper that there were several white artists signed to Motown - R Dean Taylor being probably the most well-known, but there were others. Google for more results or visit this site : <a class="postlink" href="http://www.randysrodeo.com/features/motown/artists.php" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">http://www.randysrodeo.com/features/motown/artists.php</a>

You linked to perhaps my very favourite Motown track - Heaven Must Have Sent You by The Elgins. Now, we're used to backing tracks being uploaded onto YouTube, but what about vocals only ?

Don't miss this one : <a class="postlink" href="http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4ko3u81ulcU" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" target="_blank">http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=4ko3u81ulcU</a>
