northwich vics

Not exactly sure why the have FA stopped us playing at the chosen ground closer to home its something to do with the ground reg but I do know there appealing as it been seen as a very unfair decision. Sorry it is not the oldest your right I knew it had some record though.

If I had a second team it would be Alti (boooo) (dont believe you can support two teams though its weird)

Do Vics hate Witton more than Alti then?

Yes I think they hate witton more than alti but only a little more. Alti and vics used to play every Boxing Day I think. Big crowds then and lots of trouble if I remember correctly.

Yes, once the Vauxhall Conference was set up, Vics and Witton didn't play as often, the odd Cheshire Senior Cup game was it, so Alty and Runcorn became the rivals.
2 seasons ago, when Vics had 2 FA Cup games on ITV, they were singing throughout ''My old man said be a Witton fan....'' and ''we hate Albion'' etc. There were quite a number of expletives in some of the songs, booming through the TV screen on a Sunday afternoon!

Could get in to it more but the FA aint doing anything wrong. Jim Rushe hes leased Flixton's ground for 3 years but it doesn't have the correct grading to hold the standard of football Vic's are playing at. Jim Rushe has run up bigger debts and the club will go under this year. Which will be a good thing as the Supporters Trust can then start again. Running a club within it's means. Northwich Vic's under Jim Rushe will never play another game in Northwich.

Northwich Villa play at Flixton don't they atm?
Is there a link between Villa and Vics, aren't Villa a spin-off team almost? Could the supporters trust rally behind them perhaps?

Greetings and sorry to intrude. I won't stay long, but prompted by the interest in our plight I thought I'd give you a few facts - not the whole story, you've got a game to get to later so you haven't got time.

We left the Drill Field because it couldn't be brought up to Conference ground grading standards at the time. Basically too old etc. But the move is shrouded in controversy because the council then delayed the planning permission to the housing development, which delayed the money for the sale, which delayed the new ground building, etc etc. We ended up spending half the proceeds on ground sharing with Witton.

Since then we have had two owners verging on the criminal. Mike Connett came with lots of promises, then announced in a TV interview that the stadium was his pension fund, then went bankrupt. Jim Rushe arrived full of promises, but never divulged the finances, ran up debts everywhere, didn't pay the CVA from the previous owner, ended up with his own CVA, didn't pay that either, didn't (doesn't?) pay any bills, alienated the entire local business community, has run up numerous CCJs for unpaid bills, failed to buy the stadium from the administrators (rumours are that they wouldn't accept his money because the sources were dubious - allegedly), got us kicked out of the stadium, annoyed the league we were in by disputing absolutely everything, led to us being relegated for financial irregularities (a mild term in the circumstances), agreed a ground share 40 miles away (because nobody nearer would deal with him), then asked to move to Flixton (still 20+ miles away) and threw a hissy fit when the league told him to stick to his first agreement and stop messing them about.

He's now presiding over a team with Northwich in the name which has absolutely no connection with the town, and the majority of fans have stopped going. The Supporters Trust are making plans for when the sums finally don't add up - which on gates of 60-odd and monthly outgoings of several thousand was probably a few months ago. Where is the money coming from to keep him going? A good question with a murky answer - not least because there is a friendship with Stephen Vaughan (google him) to factor in.

To attract one unscrupulous owner may be unfortunate, to attract two in succession sounds like carelessness, as Oscar Wilde would have said - but what can the ordinary fan do? At the moment, sit and wait for it all to implode. Then try to ressurect football in Northwich.

Oh, and incidentally, Northwich Villa are officially nothing to do with Vics (one owner of two clubs is against FA rules). Yeah, right. They play at Flixton, where Rushe has signed a three year lease - and where he wants Vics to play. So, as you see, he is making every effort to bring the club back home. Yeah, right.

Sorry to go on at you. Have a good season.

Northwich Villa is another Jim Rushe team. It was Woodley Sports but he changed there name to northwich villa. Something tells me Northwich Vics might go the same way if they keep going. Flixton Vic's in the coming seasons maybe. ATM Northwich Vic's play at Stafford Rangers ground with a complete new squad and new management from last season. So they are only Northwich by name they have nothing to do with the town any more. The Supports Trust are waiting for Jim to finally pull the plug so they can get on with start again.

I moved to the area over 4 years ago and still trying to decide on a Local team.

Limited knowledge says that Witton are like the rags and Northwich more like City but playing in Stafford means they are no longer local.
i would completely disagree - i moved to northwich 15 years ago , at the time vics were playing at the drill field ( about 10 mins walk from our house ) and getting about 1,000 per match , while Witton were quite a bit further out of town from me and were getting only around 300 . Vics were all over the back pages while very little mention of Witton . then Nigel Gleghorn took over at witton which kind of pushed me towards them - even though i would only go and see them a couple of times a season . so at the time Vics were like the big successful club (United) while witton were the struggling little club (City). then to cap it all, about 4/5 years ago Vics linked up with united , letting their reserves play at the new ground , so all the signs had vics and united crests all over them - Now back to present times - the once" mighty" vics are in serious danger thru' bad management , bookkeeping and in my opinion karma (coz of the tie-in with Utd) whilst little old witton are on the up !
