The smell of car body filler. Every Sunday morning it seemed everybody’s dad was outside their house filling holes in the car wing and sanding in down
I loved that smell!!!
Do cars still rust ? I’ve never owned a car more than 4/5 years and never had to patch up a wing or have anything welded

My dad used to work for Daly’s as a gas fitter, he used to use black tape that was sticky as fuck and dead thick to cover all the holes in his Hillman Imp and Morris Minor.

1980s? That was yesterday. I was applying for retirement in the 1980s.

Go ba k to some real nostalgia, as depicted on black & white footage of life like it was when I were a lad

Get yourself on youtube and watch some of the old British Transport films or things like "Away for the day", a charabanc ride in the countryside, or "Highland Journey" in Scotland.
There's also some evocative stuff in tv programmes by Ian Nairn, R.I.P., a slightly less gentle version of Betjeman.

This scene use to terrify me as a kid and every time i watched it I would watch through my fingers. Haven't seen it since I was a kid but someone mentioned the scene the other day and all those childhood memories came flooding back
