Not meaning to tempt fate, but...

United will pick up plenty of points over the next 3 or 4 months. There's still a big gap between them and the other 17 teams (not so much with Chelsea).

They'll tighten up after sunday. Its a tricky game for them at Everton but after that I expect them to grind out a series of wins. Not as spectacular as their start to the season but reasonably comfortable all the same.

We do have those two very difficult away games in amongst 3 very important CL games. We can make a better assessment in the new year.

Lets not get ahead of ourselves guys. If we put things into context, we could still get relegated, yes i know that is pretty far fetched, but until we have passed the 40 point mark any talk of title winning is also far fetched imo.

We will undoubtably hit a bad patch during the season, our rivals will also hit a purple patch during the season. We have a fantastic depth to the squad and we are going to need it. Bobby keeps impressing this winning mentality on anyone willing to listen, he's quite right of course but, we are involved in 4 competitions which will place a heavy burden on the squad. We are bound to suffer injuries, suspensions etc.

Chelsea were about a billion points in front at this stage last year... and then looked like they'd miss the top four at one point.

It's a long season, one game at a time etc and so forth.

At this stage they were 5 points ahead, just like us. But less points than we have now.

Baring a collapse I think we will be in the mix up. Way too early to say though where it will go.

It's not even worth considering until after the Christmas fixtures
Last season Chelsea were romping the league early doors and then they couldn't buy a win for six weeks.

True enough.

But interestingly, after 9 games (which is before the wheels fell off and whilst they were still in the midst of their "romping the league" period) they were 3 points behind where we are now.

Do you see us not winning again for the next 6 weeks? I don't.

I know it's a long way to go and I know you cannot account for injuries (god help us if Kompany was out for a couple of months!!!)

But I honestly think we are going to do it this year, and in some style at that. I don't think it's going to be close actually! Our home form is imperious (as was United's last year) and our away form is way better than theirs ever was.

A sobering thought is that we are already 8 points ahead of where United were last year. The team that won it. After 9 games, we are 8 points ahead. It's bloody incredible.

Way too premature to be thinking that we'll be walking it. Don't want to end up like last year's Chelski.

We haven't played anyone yet. Calm down.

I know, I know. But I do think it is different this year. We have already beaten our nemesis Everton, and I just don't see us dropping as many daft points as last season. Of course there will be some like the Fulham game, but we only need to be a little bit better than last year to win it, and imho we are dramatically better than last year. The FA Cup win has changed everything.

-- Tue Oct 25, 2011 12:18 pm --

The title isn't won or lost in the first dozen games but in the last dozen games. With 11 games to go last season, Arsenal were 4 points behind the rags and 7 ahead of us.

All good points. But results only change if things change. I don't see the wheels falling off at City this year. Of course they could, but I just don't see it. And carry on like we are, and we will romp it.
