Not seen a thread on it - this middle east trouble....

80% of the population of UAE are non citizens, that's all you have to know. It's like a massive tourist resort. Tourists don't revolt.

Well considering lots of people on the forum didn't even know that Kiev was in Ukraine or that Ukraine wasn't a part of a Soviet Union any longer, I'm quite looking forward to the answers on the UAE's political situation. ;)

What? Link please

never mind the middle east what about the eastern europeans fighting down in that Lundun ;-0

UAE will be fine because the ruling families there share the wealth with their citizens. The benefit of having so much oil with a relatively small population means they can afford to let the money trickle down. Every single citizens gets a "pension" from the state, regardless if they work. A mate was telling me that they could live comfortably with only the pension they get from the state. Why would anyone want to change? :)

It´s a good question but the answer is no..it ill not affect Abu Dhabi or UAE much at all.

I might give you a number of reasons but I´ll choose to name just one.

The fact that the Emiratis or the locals as we might say are a minority while the majority of the population are contracted workers from all over the world who basically are just interested in bringing home a pay-check.
And any unrest would see them kicked out within weeks. It have happened before. Ask the palestinians living in Kuwait who sided with Saddam when he occupied Kuwait what happened afterwards..

As for Abu Dhabi citizens I´ll remind you that they have a per capita fortune of around $17m to look after, not exactly a situation where you want to rock the boat.
Besides Abu Dhabi is basically built upon clan-base so the ruling Al-Nahyans have a formidable powerbase that not even religious fundamentalists have managed to make a scratch on.

thank you for this my friend i wish more people would have taken notice ahead of their own un-educated opinions !

not aimed at you cleavers

Its a good thought that one thanks.

Lets not get too heavy into the politics, I just thought it was a good discussion to be had, I really don't see much danger for City in all of this, but in many ways it shows how potentially fragile this wealth for our club. That said Chelsea are probably a KGB bullet away from being in deep shit too, and I think that is far more likely, and is there anything worse than having a debt ridden shopping mall owner gambling with your club ? (Rags still need not reply)

That sounds brilliant.
The exact opposite is more likely to happen here in Greece.
No wonder why all educated youngsters try to find a way & escape from this brothel.
