Personally finishing 4th is worrying me a little this year, obviously ill be delighted if we get it, but im worried about this play off thing before we go into the champs league proper,

As is my understanding (never really had much cause to take notice of the CL structure before for obvious reasons) the 4th place team goes into the qualifying rounds against a team from another league and the winner goes into the CL and loser gets F All

I doubt we would be a seeded team so could end uo with a difficult game, which is played before the season starts so many of our players wont have had much time to recuperate from the world cup, and i cant see us buying many until after the world cup, so we could be massively understrenthed and if we lose the play off then were completely out with no europa league to fall back on either, as happened to rangers a couple of seasons ago, and i think that would be a disaster as we need to be competeing in europe,

not saying that i really dont want to finish 4th but it worries me slightly, if we do get 4th ill be having everything crossed for a nice easy tie, so can spend wednesday nights either at coms or in front of the telly when playing away..

Let's finish 4th, and see who we bring in.

It's going to be tough at the top, and hopefully it starts next season!

Bring it on. It has to start somewhere, after all.

Chill mate, all will be good. Lets get there and buy the players we need and want, to light up the world stage.

Im pretty sure the champs league qualifying rounds are after the premier league kick off anyway IIRC

Finishing 4th gives us the summer to bring players in, and i'd rather have a shot at Champions League than have 20 games to get to the Quarters of the Uefa cup, the CL is what its all about, and we have the team capable of beating anyone. Our pace would be great against the foreign sides.

The team that loses the qualifier goes into the Europa League. Agree we could get a tough draw, but then again no-one would fancy playing us.

I think the key issue with finishing 4th is that we could potentially attract an even better quality of player that we have at the moment.

By the way the final for 2011 is at Wembley.

I seem to remember Everton showing themselves as the clowns they are by getting rapidly twatted in the CL and then Uefa in hilarious circumstances.....Villarreal and Bucharest if memory serves...

Celtic also dropped into the Uefa after going out to Arsenal this year. So, if we get CL (and it's a big if) when we loose to Rubin Kazan (sp), we'd drop in to the Europa Champions intertoto super cup league....

and..... if we don't finish 4th we will start in it!

Do we go into the fourth (and final) qualifying round automatically, or do Arsenal, Liverpool etc get that because they are the highest seeded team in qualifying?

We would only have been marginally seeded in the 3rd qualifying round this season. (5th best out of ten by a small margin) and would deffo not have been seeded in the 4th round.
