Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I thought Forest played well - did everything they could to hassle and hustle, surround in numbers and look for mistakes, - it is often the right way to play against us and but for some very poor finishing it might have worked for them. But we are also capable of digging in and playing a scrappy game and taking the chances that come - it’s not pretty but it’s the way you win leagues.

I thought Gvardiol and Ake were superb - gave MOTM to Josko for the addition of a goal. Walker struggled - and met his match in a sprint! But as ever he digs in and contributes. Hard work for all the midfielders struggling to get passing rhythm together. Pep made the right subs/tweaks and the right times and in the end we wrestled control especially once Kova was there to support Rodri. And perhaps Haaland should be an impact sub against tiring teams looking to punish forward … ;-)

Not pretty, a few weren't on it, 3 points all that counts. Ake was again one who stood out, not a so called superstar but solid!

We had to dig deep for that, fair fucks to Forest as they were very decent today.

Thought that was a lovely time for Erling to produce some of his best interplay around our build-up and of course the goal was class.

Rest up now, luxury of 5 days to get up for the next one. Think the players need it.

The Boys in Blue didn't give in, they fought to the end. Thank you City, thank you lads, thank you fans. You showed 'em, you showed 'em all.

I'm sorry I can't do the usual after match thanks and telling off for the other team, the media and the officials.

The reason I was late with my Match Day thread posting was because just after I posted the pre-match one I had a phone call to tell me that a friend of mine, who I've known for over 75 years and was like an extra brother, had died. He was part of our family, as I say an extra brother. Came to all our parties, weddings, birthdays, funerals, everything and as it is the second death of someone close to me in the last four days, my cousin who was 1 year younger than me died on Thursday, it has knocked me for six.

Sorry. I am of course absolutely pleased about City winning today but I am also gutted and am now going to sit down and get out the photos and memories of our times together.

THE BEST TEAM IN THE LAND AND ALL THE WORLD.
