Nottingham Forest (A) | PL | Post Match Thread

I think everyone knew how Pep's teams played after Barca and Munich. It was no secret. However the difference now is that our players aren't what they were. Far too many are sub par
Echos my thoughts. Too many of the players aren't doing the things that made us great. Some of the reasons for this are obvious, some maybe not so clear. I'm convinced that under Pep a new young, hungry and energetic team can be created. A few current players will need to depart in the process though.

If we include Grealish who is obviously out of favour, who’s going to stump up £300k per week for him?

Just watching the Spurs v Bournemouth game and the goal that Bournemouth just scored, a wicked cross from the left (something that we seem incapable of ) and the wide man sliding in at the far post (ala Sterling) shows how simple it can be.

Our slow build up is killing us….allowing the defence to get back and then set up correctly and then doubling up on our wide men.

The 2018/19 teams had wide men with pace and we got the pall to them a lot quicker meaning that they had a lot of one on ones….so Peps teams can play another way.

The inverted full back tactics are not working especially this season and I think the players to a certain extent are confused by it….. other teams now look better coached and organised.

Pep has earned the chance to rebuild, but he has also got to adapt…..our possession based football is no longer enough against the fast, direct and athletic teams combined with some ability.

I don't know how you've come to the conclusion that it was a good performance. It's a million miles away from where we want to be, and one shot against the post in the whole 90 minutes is quite frankly shit

Take the whole season into consideration.

Were we completely dominated like vs PSG and Sporting?
Did we completely collapse like vs Real, Rags or Feyenoord at home?
Did we completely give up like vs the Tarqins?

And we already know the short comings this season which cannot be addressed without FOUR NEW MIDFIELDERS.

So yeah I'm just being realistic. For a team that has lost 15 of the last 30.. it wasn't that bad till the bad sub killed us.

I can put up with the result but what really pisses me off is the lack of effort all over the pitch form these players. If I was on the money they're on I'd be running my bollocks off
I didnt see any lack of effort. In fact I see more the opposite, we try tooooo hard and just cant find our mojo.

But a lack of effort, have you got any evidence of this? Not being difficult, I just hear this comment a lot and I see the players, Bernardo, Foden especially running so much, the rest of the team also working extremely hard imo. But do the running and sprint stats show us as one of the poorest or something?

Don't know what the future holds for him, becoming adrift at City it seems.
He’s going to have to decide for himself if astronomically high wages for another two years or an outside chance at making tuchels 26 World Cup squad is most important to him.

I think is fair to say with the expected signings this summer, there is an almost zero percent chance tuchel sees enough from Jack next season being a spot starter and cup game mostly player for City to be on the plane to the states.

If he were lower his wage demands and go excel somewhere week in and week out at a club like West Ham, Fulham, or Brighton then he may have and outside chance to salvage the back end of his career yet.

Unfortunately, not many people go backward in wage earnings unless forced, so it will likely be another Phillips situation where he goes out on loan to someone late in the summer transfer market and we pay for most of it.

City did not do enough and that is the bottom line, Forest lets us have the ball outside the danger zones and City do what City do, pass and pass some more and repeat for about 40 passes, Nobody in a city shirt wants to take the game by its neck and break the lines and shoot or do something different.

Haaland Foden SIlva Gvardiol Doku all very poor and shocking at best, Its not good enough and shameful, even Pep and the setup and subs, We had a free week to work on this big game and we turn up and turn off ?

Didnt do enough what? running? Scoring? I was answering someone who said the team dont work hard which is the opposite of what I see. We didnt do enough scoring total agreed. I dont feel ashamed of them, its not that bad. Thats utd levels of player.

It’s fan reaction bollocks when a game is lost. No lack of effort yesterday.

Have to admit not watched City live much since we left Maine Rd. What I fail to understand is all the sideways passes instead of going directly for goal or getting to the bye line and crossing thus playing everyone on side. Football is a simple game why make it so bloody complicated. Watched the game in Burnley Miners Club yesterday, most Clarets bored stiff..

We played them at home and hit quick long balls over the top and beat them 3-0. Same personnel. Pep decided that he would out-coach himself today because he didn't employ that tactic
Let face it. He's fucking AWOL this year.
Maybe it's because Forest decided to defend deep this time. When a team defends deep, there is usually no space to run in behind.

There's a lot of bad will towards Pep now, on BM anyway, which is sad.
Pep deserves some criticism but I don't understand why some fans are 'picking' some of the players over Pep. On Twitter, there are people hoping Pep leaves so that the next manager will hopefully get the best out of Marmoush. Imagine picking Marmoush over Pep
