The issue here is that you wrongly assumed the horrible plan was Bernardo at LB because you don’t like it, even though if you think about it for more than a second, that obviously wasn’t what he was talking about because he’d done it before.


He did in fact talk about what the horrible plan was in the press conference yesterday - he had the wingers sit deep and defend inside.

The change he made was to have Mahrez and Grealish start pressing the Arsenal fullbacks.

Why? He’s a fucking footballer. He’s getting to play football. He can choose between spending a small part of the game defending the LB channel and being a midfielder when we have the ball, or sitting on the bench and watching Aké play.

He’s been playing badly in his favourite position, this is a way for Pep to fit him in the team.
