Nottingham Forest (H) | PL | Post Match Thread

I don’t understand the set up tonight. Semenyo was chopping and changing throughout between midfield and the touchline. I had assumed pre-game he was dropping into Nico’s role. Foden had another shocker. Nunes also had a nightmare yet ended up at LB with Ait Nouri subbed.

Pep was clearly tinkering to try and deal with the loss of O’reilly and couldn’t work it out. He had Ake ready to come on before their second but changed his mind.

The insistence on square pegs is baffling. Surely Bernardo could easily slot into O’Reillys place and we bring in Gonzalez next to Rodri? Both Savinho and Doku have barely kicked a ball this year, why are they both getting on ahead of Marmoush when we are chasing the game?

I disagree mate. I don’t think our style of play is the problem.
Our problem is we lack the ability to kill games off like we use to.
A 1 goal lead is just not enough to defend.
We score and seem to become complacent the minute we do so.
We lack aggression.
More urgency is needed.
Our style doesn’t allow us to kill games off because we haven’t got the players to do it. We need 3 goals these days not 2 which days a lot about how we defend.

Was a decent first half but forest have some capable players for sure and just seemed more determined in the guts of the second half to eek something out, that’s the underdog team with not much to loose, still think there will be some twists in this race yet, nice to see the swamp donkeys heading home 3 hours or so with 0 points.

Just so frustrating. The urgency only came when it was 2-2. Where was it at 0-0 or 1-0?

I think we're too comfortable at times and we lack a killer instinct.

Already said it on his thread but I thought Foden was truly appalling tonight. Pep gave him a chance and he responded with an abject performance with and without the ball.

It wasn't the usual second half collapse but this team just cannot hold a lead. And even worse then can't even kill a game either to make it not matter.

Why are we playing keep ball at 2-1 with 40 minutes to go. Get at them and score again and it's game over.
This for me too, we just farted about around the edge of the box, passing, passing and passing.

I don’t get the tactics, the lack of intensity, the instant reaction to pass backwards rather than drive forward. We had no width apart from full backs who just wanted to cut inside.

Apologies. I just thought it was a real refreshing game of football. Both teams fighting for the points. We gave it everything to get the winner, Forest defended for their lives. Yes we should have won, yes we now need Arsenal to slip up, but play like that regularly and we will canter to the title next year and never say never this campaign either. Got it all to play for still.
Although disappointed, I got to the end of that and thought that it was one of those Palace games where they hit a couple of great shots to take a point. These games happen sometimes.

Is it 10 games that we haven’t lost in, 8 wins in that time. This is football and with a level playing field from the officials, the outcome may have been different.

Easy, I don't throw in the towel every time we don't roll the other team 4-0 and I understand we're not going to win every game. - Nobody thought Arsenal was gonna drop points to Brentford and especially Wolves, but they did.

I know these threads are for kneejerk reactions but it's the same shite every time we don't win (And sometimes even when we do.)
And nobody thought the Arse would get 9 points against Spurs, Chelsea and BHA...but they did...after those two bad results.

Proper bottlejob performance that Arsenal thenselves would be proud of. Squandering the lead twice against a relegation threatened side at home is as bad as it gets.

Absolutely no urgency in our game, no desire to create chances and score goals, it's all static possession football passing on responsibility to next man.

Second half we spent the first 12 minutes camped in their third, but created nothing and instead just went side to side then one simple ball out from them results in a goal because we leave ourselves wide open. Even when we desperately need a late goal, we spend 2 minutes of injury time going side to side knowing full well the only option is to cross it in or lose the ball so just fucking cross it first opportunity, you can get a ball in, recycle it if nothing comes of it and do it again 3 or 4 times in yhe time it took us to go side to side and put in a shit cross. This is why we so rarely get last minute goals compared to the likes of arsenal and Liverpool other recent times who bombard the goal and play the percentages for a chance.

Reality is, we are nowhere near good enough to be champions, but i'd say the same for Arsenal. This league will be won in yhe low 80's, side should be easily getting that given the lack of quality within it.

Carrick will be secretly happy on the inside

i used to think sad bastards raising their games against us and rolling over for others but its too often now we think game too easy piss about i know keeping possesion and wearing them out but we give everyone a chance a good chance 2=1 up still everyone camped in their half without threating the goal
