Why did we start playing a lot quicker last 5 mins and then injury time why not be like that earlier in the game ..

This. Exactly what I was saying at 1-0 and again at 2-1. Sleepwalking into poor results so much right now. Somehow at 2-2 we were able to throw everything at it. Such a poor performance given the position we are in. We are just not ‘quite’ the championship material we have all got used to. Arse were 1-0 up with an XG OG 0.01 according to BBC at half time. It’s there to be won this season and we have just thrown the opportunity away.

Why is that worrying?

Your most dependable of the newer players has to come from some academy somewhere in the world. Ours just happend to come from our own. Why is that a worry?

Thar doesn't mean the players we paid for are shite. It just means our academy has produced a quality player...as it should!!

So in the Leeds game after he went off we fell apart and tonight in his absence our mid-field was abysmal

Decent point considering we can’t finish our dinner and look scared to pepper the opposition goal and are unable to play a pass forward without putting it too far ahead of the player receiving or behind them altogether so we go backwards.

I am amazed we are second, the league is competitive but 5 years ago we’d be nowhere near playing like this. Arsenal may well win it, our standard has dropped but they are not in any way streets ahead.

I don’t think any of our issues are not fixable I think the players are goosed and some don’t have the finesse of previous personnel or are 100 percent sure on their positions but that will come with time.

We will get better long term but if we do pull it off this year hats off to Pep, but bring on Gonzalez at 2-1 please baldy and shut the game down, We are blowing out of our arses and not good enough to pin a team back or keep possession unfortunately.

I disagree mate. I don’t think our style of play is the problem.
Our problem is we lack the ability to kill games off like we use to.
A 1 goal lead is just not enough to defend.
We score and seem to become complacent the minute we do so.
We lack aggression.
More urgency is needed.

I do think the style of play is causing the list of problems you listed, at least partly.

Teams have a better understanding of how to defend it and counter that's why it's harder to kill off games. That side to side build up game never had the most urgency but we had more quality, so we could have patience.

I agree we lack aggression and that's nothing to do with the style of play..that's a mentality thing. Put ability aside, I don't really see people with the same fire as KDB for example. As great a player as he was, a fair few of his big moments were born out of sheer willpower, not just being a great player. I don't see much of that in our current players, that touch of anger.

Poor result, very leggy second half. We missed O’Reilly very badly tonight. Officiating absolutely garbage as usual but we shouldn’t have been relying on pen shouts to try and win. Arsenal by all accounts were rubbish too but the difference is they keep winning.

When we went 1-1, he had Doku and Khusanov warming up, then sat them back down because we scored to make it 2-1.

He should have made the sub and gone for the win earlier.

That narrow formation doesn’t suit us at all, doesn’t create chances for Haaland either.

i used to think sad bastards raising their games against us and rolling over for others but its too often now we think game too easy piss about i know keeping possesion and wearing them out but we give everyone a chance a good chance 2=1 up still everyone camped in their half without threating the goal

I think theres a bit of both in that.

Teams do raise their game after us. Always have done. Also we rarely see keepers or other opposition players making ricks against us.
But I do think our style of play enables the opposition to raise their game. We give them belief with the chances we turn over. And also the slow slow sideways backwards passing enables them to keep it congested.

Until we have another option we will see the same old crap like tonight served up.

this entire team is full of brainless morons i am sorry. 97th minute and they take a short corner and lose the ball. you can't do anything about it when your players genuinely are this unintelligent.

Thought we didn’t play too badly in the main and were in control for most of that game.

What killed us was the pedestrian play in key spells when we should have been looking to go 2-0 and 3-1.

We only showed proper urgency each time they equalised.

Lack of someone taking a risk other than Cherki and even that was rare.

Very few, if any positives from that. To me this was the evening when it could swing our way, but posession counts for nothing and we looked toothless.

Haaland used to score for fun, now he's struggling, very few chances are coming his way but equally I think he's out of form. Phil is sadly miles off the pace.

We signed very good players, but over the last few years we have seen some of the best players ever to put on a City shirt leave the club. That's football, but despite my reservations, I still think there are twists to come.

but the last point is where people are fooling themselves...we havent signed really good players or at least they arent really good yet....no consistency in performance even within a single game

Semenyo - scores goals and does this well BUT doesnt add much else in games - he is a moments player.....we cant have him and Haaland doing that.
Cherki...sets up a goal then disappears for the rest of the match (Reijnders is also like this)
RAN - good going forward but doesnt stop crosses.
Nunes - has truedn into a good defender but does very little with the ball when going forward and our system needs that at present.
Dias is slow and makes out back line vulnerable....great organiser/leader etc but one on one is vunerable and clumsy at timess

One season wonder foden, over hyped and has no spacial awareness as a attacking midfielder. Get a price on him now

And how was foden worse than pretty much the rest of the team ? Answer...he wasn't...its just the in thing to have a go at him, ignoring the rest of the shit performances from other players as well as foden....everyone kissing cherkis arse..one moment then disappears...semenyo the same, RAN ....oh ge is great technically...brilliant...but xamt stop a cross to save his life.. guehi costantly passing to the opposition
