Nottingham Forest (H) | Post Match Thread

Far from perfect, when it kicked off you couldn't tell who was more nervous, the team on the pitch or us in the stands.
We had much better overall control, just one huge mistake and somehow still allowing teams a way too many shots.
Kev proved last night that class is permanent and just confirmed he has been one of the PL greatest ever! Even at his age and after all those injuries, he did and shown what needed to be done in one game than all our MF players attackers this season.
But even more to the point it shown how one player with a very good performance can lift up the whole team and improve its performance for 50%.
I liked Jack's experiment in the middle (sort off), definitely the reason there were no so many turnovers and counterattacks, he just does not give the ball away.
Little bastard was excellent, his best game for us in ages and Doku in the second half particularly was a throwback to old days when footie was played and enjoyed in a sides-streets. I am gonna patent-name that move of his when he rolls the ball, I call it 'kneading'. He wasn't two footed yet because it is not seen as taking a piss of someone, it is really there to throw those defenders off balance.
Anyway, much happier bunny this morning, off for some brunch and then to cultural heritages of Liverpool and Leeds. ;)

Great to get back to winning ways and stopping the rot .. We are still being knocked off the ball too easily and passing our way into trouble repeatedly, hopefully Pep can address this and get the players mindset back in the grove ..

All that said, not only did we win, we picked up 2 points on the dippers and 3 on the rags… Happy fuckin days :-)

Was a good win, i know Forest weren't very good but they are 6th in the league

His body language tells me everything, not just from this game. Tbf I can't blame him, if I was a striker I wouldn't want to play with Doku either.

he's a striker wanting the ball at all times

he's nound to be a little frustrated he doesnt get it all the time.

Kev & Phil dont always pass the ball to Erling one of these things

I hear that, but with Doku is very noticeable, sometimes erling doesn't even bother making runs when Doku is on the ball/byline.

Not when we keep losing players to injury, we just can’t get our best XI on the pitch.

Missing last night - Rodri, Kovacic, Foden, Bobb, Stones
And getting injured - Akanji, Ake and possibly De Bruyne.

Thankfully Forest missed chances that other teams have been taking and Ortega made a couple of really good saves. We are still very fragile at defending.

Also I thought Haaland was poor very little movement from him in the box.
…I thought Haaland had one of his better games in terms of his general play. All about perceptions!

Doku is a nightmare for strikers to feed off as they like the ball early (i.e. when the defenders are still facing their own goal), if the supply guy is dipping and weaving in and out the striker doesn't know when the ball is coming in (if at all) and therefore doesn't know when to make a run.

Grealish was excellent. Can see how much we've missed KDB being near full fitness too.
Still shaky at the back, but much better going forwards, though.

Eagerly awaiting the 'City in Crisis' reports from the client blogists before the next game kicks off.
