Forest, supported by my daughter’s partner, are going very well currently. I think a period at Anfield where we did ok may just have improved our confidence. We must get the tempo up. City 2-1.

Forest are no mugs, if we pass the ball around for the sake of it they will sit in deep and just watch us doing it, teams don't seem to chase the ball round like they used to do a few seasons back they just sit and wait for a break.

I suspect we do win but they score with their first counter attack annoyingly.
When we pass the ball about aimlessly, all game, it gives the opposition a breather. They all just sit 20 yards in to their own half, 2 banks of 4 with the strikers high up ready for the turnover.
That ball over the top which Salah burst on to for the scousers first yesterday has gotten teams joy all season.

We just can't handle pace and running back towards our own goal. It kills us every time.

Forest have got some quick forwards and I don't see us keeping a clean sheet. So unless we start to find Haaland and he starts to put chances away, I can only see another defeat on the cards.

That FA cup draw coupled with the fact I’ve just watched the 4 in a row documentary has renewed my enthusiasm & excitement!! Our players ARE good enough & gradually recovering from injuries. WE CAN DO THIS. Come on Citeh !!!

I have a feeling the tide is gonna turn because the injured players are coming back and in the second half at anfield we started to play football . It’s starting to turn .

Well, it's bizarre, but I realised today that I feel really relaxed. For the first time in a very long time — in years — the pressure's off. No-one counting us in now. No-one's looking at us. Being first or second for years on end, it was “Oh yeah, it's going to be City, isn't it?”
It's great. We might just creep up on everybody…

The reason Gundo is playing all the time is he is our only fit out and out central midfield player. He's not a winger and he's not a 10. Nunes is probably a CM player but not in the style of a Pep team. Foden increasingly looking like a 10. Lewis, god knows.

Grealish for me should get a go here. I've never been convinced he's a winger, although he helped us playing as a wide control player.

So the question is who plays in the three.

I think the front 3 should be

Foden Haaland Doku

Which means midfield is

Gundo
Bernardo. Grealish
I’d go with that. Plus:

Gvardiol—Aké—Dias—Akanji at the back

__________Ederson_________
Akanji___Dias___Ake___Gvardiol
___________Gundo_________
Foden___KDB____Jack___Doku
__________Haaland_________
If De Bruyne isn’t in pain then I’d play him but I’m not sure he isn’t.

I think he’s putting a brave face on it but the Drs/physios aren’t allowing Pep to play him anymore minutes than he has been.

It has been a tough few weeks but we will turn this around. The players are clearly tired after a fantastic 4years with the pressure clearly on. It has to come down somewhere and the signs are there of a very tired squad, injuries mean players have to play longer without rest leading to more injuries. You see it on the pitch; giving the ball away with poor passing, players unable to track back quick enough when the play turns, hence the ‘easy’ goals we conceded. The signs are all there. Look at our back line, all been injured this season and some/all still not match fit. It will come back to us hopefully on Wednesday.

Incidentally, O’Reilly played a similar role to Rodri in the EDS, everything used to go through him; it would be interesting to see him come on at some stage to see what he could do but it is a problem, at present, finding a time to slot him in.

On current form, Savinho is probably a better option than Foden on the right, for he is a genuine winger, can dribble, and has assisted several Haaland goals. When Foden isn't scoring goals, his utility on the right wing is questionable.

Savinho has been dreadful for the last 2 months.

Nonsense. It offers more than Bernardo, Rico and Gundo who Pep has persisted with for most of our defeats.
Kdb has hardly played not sure whats going on there tbh, mcatee too risky. Grealish certainly worth a try but in this slump that's doesn't seem remotely a likely midfield. Not even sure Foden deserves a start and I'm his biggest fan but I would put him in the middle.

We have no current form
