Now Kia is having a go at Mancini

Mancini was an idiot for opening his mouth to the press in the heat of battle. Whilst I don't like him at all, the one thing Kia is right about is that most top managers keep things in house. Don't give the media the excuse to run with it and drag the club's name through the mire, and don't back yourself into a corner. That's what he did and Abu Dhabi of course have no choice but to back him.

He's a hothead and doesn't always think through the repercussions of his actions. Whipping Balotelli off the field in the USA was another example of this.

Do you honestly think Mancini could have played dumb, and the story would have just gone away?

I'm glad he said what he said after the match.
So am I. Why keep quite to protect that little tw*t.

The media were already running with it during the match commentary...it was a story before the final whistle was blown. Mancini speaking from the heart has caught the Tevez camp on the hop and they are now trying the 'crap management style routine' because they are deep in the brown stuff.
If Tevez had any ounce of class he'd admit what he did and apologise to Mancini and the Team.

Agreed. The story had broken during the match. Mancini playing dumb would have just made him look like a clueless idiot. Sometimes an honest reaction is all you have left.

Modric refused to play when the transfer saga was at its height and we know this because Harry told everyone that Modric's head wasn't right and didn't want to play.

When Modric did play against us Harry then told the world after the game that Modric had approached him some hours before kick off asking not to play when 24 hours prior to that he had been willing to play. Not sure how Harry telling the media about Modric's mood swings is 'keeping it in house' but I'm sure DD will enlighten us.

No the story would not have gone away Moomba but I think he would have been better served to not use such immotive language in his interviews.

The realty is Tevez would have been finished and is without doubt at the club but it could be more spun in time as a board decision with the full backing of the manager as opposed to Mancini saying in effect I cannot manage this team or we cannot move forward as a club or words to effect while Tevez is at the club.

In effect he is saying that he has run out of ideas as to how to handle Tevez and while in reality albeit in less dramatic circumstances the same thing happened at Manure the club truthfully or otherwise spun the line that they were not prepared to pay him or pay the fee that was being peddled for Tevez.

The way spurs handled modric is the sensible way. He will go to chelsea but at full value. That is the way a professionally run club does things.

Modric didn't refuse to play during a match, there is a huge difference right there. If Tevez said before the match that he wasn't right, he may well have still had a future with us and there would have been none of the drama that we've seen.

If Modric was on the bench against the rags and refused to come on they would be in exactly the same boat we are.

I'd also say that Modric is prepared to act professionally with Spurs while he remains there, if tevez stays would anyone be confident that he would be prepared to act as professionally?

-- Thu Oct 06, 2011 3:42 pm --

The same thing didn't happen at the rags, or any of the other "identical situations" people are quoting as being better dealt with by other clubs.

He didn't need to play dumb BK to say that he is most disappointed with Tevez's attitude as he said of Dzeko and that he will have to speak to the appropriate people about what the best approach for the club is to deal with what occurred would be.

Come off it fella, it was live on Sky, being watched by millions, and a player of the worldwide profile of Carlos is refusing to come on as a sub.

Hardly a "I am disappointed in his attitude" moment.

Do you really believe this may happen?

lol.

Rammy, it could have happened if Mancini had pleaded dumb
As I said just above, Carlos should have been out in the summer. City partly to blame in all this as we set an unrealistic price and pretty much forced him to stay. Big mistake.

Now that I do agree with. Noone comes out of this with much credit. We're still a shambles at times I'm afraid.

Oh well, Typical City never dies, we just get bigger.

-- Thu Oct 06, 2011 1:53 pm --

Yes he could, that's what other managers do. And the strory wouldn't have been anything like as big. And more importantly, City wouldn't be forced to sell Tevez at some knock-down price in Jan. Which is undoubtedly what the outcome will be.

I was at the game so only got to watch the recording on Thursday after getting back from Munich.

At no point during the game did anyone say anything about him refusing to play.

Only after - in Geoff Shreeve's interview with Mancini was it revealed that he "refused to play".

Mancini could've (should've?) handled it better...or were his answers lost in translation?

Did we actually get any bids for Tevez though?I doubt we did because the biggest clubs out there know they are buying trouble.

He will end up at Corinthians-can you see any other big club buying him?
