Now the Telegraph are at it

No you're right Johnny.

They're all rags. They're out to destablisise City. Mark Lawrenson, Alex Ferguson and the MUEN are the ones behind it.

They all sit down once a month for lunch, all the main media outlets, and decide ways to spoil our bid for the top four.

They all kiss Sir Alex's feet after the meal and piss on one of our shirts.

I think you have said this tongue in cheek Dave but to be honest i think there is some sort of an agenda to show us upstarts they cant have there own way

The press's agenda is simply to sell papers. It's not complicated.

Don't know about the Tevez article but the others seem pretty fair to me.

If you think serial baseless attacks on the club and the manager are "pretty fair" I think you are "pretty stupid".

It's hardly an "attack" and I actually found the Mancini one to be a reasonable read bar the odd sentence or two. I'd definitely say it's not "baseless".

Just accept that we support a football club which also doubles up as the longest running Soap Opera in the World. People have always and will always love to read about what's going on at our club because, most of the time, there always something going on which is worth reading about.

Why would I start jumping up and down and emailing the author of the piece when it doesn't surprise me one bit that players aren't happy at the moment. I don't condone it but I understand it. SWP is no longer an automatic selaction under Mancini and was subbed on Sunday. Ditto Stevie Ireland. If they were happy I'd be worried about their reasons for playing football. I don't doubt that our attacking players have misgivings over Mancini's tactics. Let's face it, alot of us have and we're not the ones having to curb our natural flair on the pitch to accommodate Mancini's philosophy. They can moan all they want though because if it gets us into the Top 4 it's job done. The end of the season is the time for recriminations and finger pointing, not now.

One thing I will say is that I'm sure there's eight players at United who aren't happy at the moment, ditto Liverpool and so on and so on. So in that respect it's a bit of a non-story because footballers are always unhappy at various stages in their career. Yet I just don't see why any paper would have a specific agenda against us. People just love to read about us potentially fucking everything up. I was the same when Newcastle were imploding so I'm not going to be hypocritical about it all.

City will always be on the back pages, and bar the Mancini press conference which I thought was bang out of order, I tend to let it all wash over me.

Voice of reason as usual m27.

I was just thinking about this over my rather delicious clow cooked beef sandwich.

When you go out with a gang of mates, people barely talk about Frank's new sofa or Donna's new job. They want to talk about Johnny and his Mrs splitting up or Sam getting arseholed and making a tit of herself.

It's basically the same in the papers. "City reduce number of goals conceeded" is not of interest to the neutral. "Bellany chins Mancini" is.

But it's the same with every club to a greater or lesser or degree. They all think the media are biased against them.

We're newsworthy and high profile. I'd say our profile is as high as it's ever been. We should be grateful. Swales was obsessed with knocking United off the back pages and to a degree this has happened.

They're always going to prefer the bitchy stories, big deal.

What annoys me is this "the press are all out to get us" mentality. It's actually quite arrogant as well as deluded. The clowns on here discussing an anti-media banner a few months ago was excruciatingly embarrassing. My arse was clenching for days.

We really have turned into the most hysterical set of fans in the country

One bad run of form and we want the manager out and half the team sold

One balanced or even negative article on the club in the papers and its a mass conspiracy theory involving the "new rag order" controlling all Journo's and trying to keep us from finishing a but higher in the league.

With regards to both all three of your points you have to remember that 3 people posting on here does not constitute all City fans.

Of course not Dave, this thread seems to have past most by thank god but as you said earlier the threads about the media being against us pop up on a daily basis and normally have tons more replying

In terms of hysterical i'm also referring to booing a 0-0 draw's with Liverpool, whatever happend to just clapping the side off or if your unhappy just going home and having a moan in the car/pub

I used to like following us when it was a bit more fun instead so paranoid/moany

I don't think anything's changed, mike.

I don't think City fans are any more negative than they have been, or particularly more negative than anyone else.

A degree of balance is required when referring to newspaper reporting; remember the definition of a newspaper journalist is someone who takes the news, sorts the wheat from the chaf, and then throws away the wheat! 'Everything fine at City' won't sell any copy.

Jason Burt is generally regarded as a Chelsea correspondent (and supporter?). Wonder what his agenda might be in unsettling City?

Have a think about the above, it explains a lot...

Chelsea were also the first to get wind of us sounding-out Hiddink, which they also put the block on.
