Oakland Raiders move to Las Vegas

Why does anyone give a toss? It's the way it's always been in the USA. What would be unusual would be if there were no team moves.

It's not comparable to football in the UK because the NFL culture is totally different.

Question for the US based blues. How often have "soccer" clubs moved location? I'm under the impression that it's a bit more unusual.

I loved how Goodel says the Raiders need "certainty and stability" from the city they're in. Yeah, those are the two words I most associate with Las Vegas, not "hookers" and "coke." It's okay -- Raiders players don't have a history of abusing their free time or anything.

It's fucking 100 degrees (38 for you Brits) there in September by the way. The entire town is made up of transplants from other cities who have an affinity for whomever they grew up supporting.

This will not end well. But American football is also not going to end well. It's sport all the mothers of America could shut down in 24 hours if they had a Trump-type leader with a Twitter account. 3 1/2 hour games, interminable stoppages, commercials up the wazoo, a horrid standard of play . . . ugh.
Great. They could all start playing rugby then and develop a skill set

I really dont know how they expect to fill the ground, Las Vegas is a town of around 500k people, And i guess most are out of towners that already have a team ?

I would imagine it will a mix of tourists and locals. Sunday in Vegas for a game would be a huge draw i imagine when you think of the type of people who go to vegas.

Day trippers and away fans in the area?
It's similar to that here in Tampa, with The Glazer owned Buchaneers - I don't know anyone who watches them as it is a very transient area and folk simply support the team that was local to them wherever they grew up.
There are maybe 50 staff at work and probably only 5 are born and raised Tampa

It's a great sport, but if you're not a fan of one of the flagship teams (Packers, Steelers, Patriots, Cowboys) there's always a chance you'll end up with a c**t owner at some point who will take his ball and go home (e.g. petition to move his team if he doesn't get a taxpayer funded Taj Mahal stadium deal). It's bullshit for the fans that have invested time and money supporting a team.

Ahem, the New York Football Giants should be in that list as well. :)
