Oakland Raiders move to Las Vegas

Question for the US based blues. How often have "soccer" clubs moved location? I'm under the impression that it's a bit more unusual.
San Jose Earthquakes moved to Houston and became the Dynamo and promptly won two MLS Cups before descending into mid- to bottom-table mediocrity. Just my take but most if not all teams have nice "soccer" specific stadiums with capacities that enable them to fill the grounds. Plus, the payroll/wage bill is a fraction of other sports here so I don't think there is the pressure to have high capacity stadiums with luxury suites. Kind of refreshing actually. Too bad the product on the field is still so poor. I see better passing at youth games around town.

Seems to happen in a lot of their sports they move home.

What I find baffling and annoying about North America is the amount of teams. In England we have 700+ competing in an FA cup and a tier system of some kind. Even Canada who is ice hockey mad only has about 5 teams.

True enough but look at population centers around both countries, it might be possible to have a league in the NE but shear distance makes it almost impossible for the rest of the country

St Louis Rams became the LA Rams last season.
San Diego Chargers will become the LA Chargers next season. Which is even more baffling considering nobody there was arsed about the Rams the season just gone.
Oakland Raiders will become the Las Vegas Raiders.

It's a joke and a massive stain on American sport imo.

The Packers have it right, non profit organisation, community owned, massive part of the city and are never getting relocated, despite having the smallest market in all of the major American sports.

The Rams originally moved from Los Angels to St. Louis in the mid -90s. They are owned by Stan Kroenke (a name everyone should know) who only cares about $/£/€ whatever someone will fork over. It is pretty apparent his main concern is making money, have a look at the Rams, the Colorado Avalanche, Denver Nuggets and Arsenal. Before Kroenke purchased majority ownership of the Rams they were a good team and won a Championship. Since then, 2010, they have been woeful.

Yes. It is a business. However, there are owners who actually love their clubs and would like them to win games/championships.
