Official Blackburn Rovers vs Manchester City Thread

I saw Elano on the team sheet and whilst I thought he'd be very anonymous I gave him the benefit of the doubt, after another gutless 45 minutes I would like to see Gelson on the park for the 2nd and him never to don a blue shirt again.

First error for the goal was Ball trying to clear with his left foot instead of putting his right boot through it, then Caicedo tried to lay it off to nobody in particular instead of hold it up.

Caicedo is only young Ball has years of experience - who is more to blame?

For me, for all the previous errors in the build up, the bottom line is that both centre backs got done by Roberts and once again the blame is with them (whoever plays there).
I think SWP owes us a performance so lets hope he shows up for the 2nd half.

that cross could, and should, have been cut out by both Ball and Onuoha
VERY sloppy!

You can't always legislate for the way a ball is whipped in on a bobbly surface! Get a grip, man!

Neds has been super solid, cept for that unfortunate happening!

I suppose it's Neds out, now, eh?
Neds been quite dodgy on one or two occasions under the dropping ball
(and I haven't seen all of the game)
To be fair he's only getting back to match fitness so you have to make allowances for him.

It was Dunne who ran right past McCarthy and the ball. Can't understand what he was doing. Sorry to say, he couldn't go to Spuds fast enough or cheap enough.

Nothing like playing half decent for 20 minutes to please the masses but still lose

Shit, I'm not sure things are that bad! Elano just needs to stick to the simple pass now and again instead of these great raking cross field efforts that are always intercepted and put us on the back foot.

I fail to understand what kind of function Ball thought he had at the goal. He didn't try to go out and block the cross, but he didn't try to mark anyone either. He was meters away from everyone without doing anything to help.
looking at it again he had just moved about a foot away from the flight of the ball as it was played in but you have to wonder why he was moving in that direction at all.
Big Phil doesn't know better: he's not a defender

Mate, you need to step away from the stats for just one minute and look at his performance through the eyes of a spectator rather than a computer. His passing has been very ordinary. I've said it before and I'll say it again, stats do not tell a complete story. For example, he's played a couple of hospital balls that may have been touched by our players before theirs but were still awful passes... do you class that as a 'completed pass'?

I've watched the game, and it was clear that he is not passing at the 1 in 5 rate that some are suggesting. He hasn't been great and his passing hasn't been great. But he is passing no worse than Kompany, Robinho, Caicedo, SWP but that tends to get ignored by some.

The biggest concern about his passing though is that he's not passing enough, he (and a few others) need to get a whole lot more of the ball.
