Samuel Eto'o's agent has paved the way for the striker's move to Manchester City after hitting out at Barcelona's handling of the summer transfer wrangle.

Josep Maria Mesalles, the Cameroon star's representative, today said Eto'o was happy to stay at the Nou Camp but would not stand in the way if the European champions wanted to cash in.

Someone posted a link to a Barca forum earlier, and the general consensus seemed to be that he had played his last game for Barca, but that the Barca Board inc. Laporta had a lot to answer for.

IMO I do believe he'll be playing for us next season, just that its going to drag on and on (and on and on and on).

From Barca's point of view he has caused them plenty of problems over the years, just hope he doesnt cause us any, apart from team selection problems!

What problems has he caused?

Bust ups with players like McDonaldiniho and Xavi to name just 2. Plus some great off field journo threats and the like http://backofthenet.wikia.com/wiki/Samuel_Eto'o

think this is new
Samuel Eto'o yesterday focused attention, and also the concerns of the sports leaders FC Barcelona, obsessed with giving a final solution to the situation in Cameroon. The offer from Manchester City, launched exclusively by MD and cataloged in a "brutal and very difficult to reject" by Joan Laporta, was the trigger for a tense day for Txiki Begiristain and to Josep Maria Mesalles, agent of Cameroon.

Mesalles I did yesterday was the first move in the chess match that both sides are settled. After seeing different newspapers in the words of the president and analyze the situation which was its principal, the agent called a press conference today.

At that hearing, Mesalles plans to explain the position of Eto'o. On the one hand, football has not liked the situation that has been confirming the offer of the City Laporta. The 'new' feel that they have in disparadero. If accepted, fear of being classified 'pesetero' because the City has few aspirations and sporting image search would just be the best paid footballer in the world. And if you do not agree, you know that I will be again accused of seeking to be free from entrenched contract for next year, thus charging a premium transfer succulent. Again be considered as a 'pesetero. In any case, Samuel's work is not going to the City and we will confirm your representative today.

Mesalles also plans to announce the decision on Eto'o submitted July 20 in the team's first training session in a show unequivocally that it wishes to continue playing in the boat and what, from the club, many describe as a clear pulse Laporta, who opened the door for Manchester City.

Pep, through

Mesalles also want to send a clear message: they want the boat to clear. Because, according to the agent, the club told him in early June that Pep Guardiola did not have Samuel and that therefore it was best to look for equipment. According Mesalles, it does not block them because the coach never sent him face to face to the 'nine' that does not have it, and say, Pep Eto'o said goodbye to the phrase "until July 20." It appears that the figure of the Pep 'Eto'o case' will start at the center of the controversy.

Moreover, since the environment of the Cameroonian claim Laporta continued interventions in the hopes that Barça Samuel renewals despite being clearly in the market.

Knowing the intentions of Mesalles to convene a press conference today at the club yesterday afternoon azulgrana discussed the best tactics to follow. Basically, this is a strategic battle and the two sides try to play your strengths to get the best possible to the 'opposite', the partners and the public and, incidentally, to draw the largest slice.

In this context, FC Barcelona announced after nine at night that it had decided to make an offer to Eto'o for the renewal of two years more than the one already has. That is, until 2012 a proposal in which the club kept the same form they have today. Now Samuel must assess whether the offer is an invitation to continue as the club-or-not accept and go with the risk of becoming like the 'bad' from the movie. According to MD has been told, the proposal is not too appealing. Today, at least Mesalles, who heard the offer of renewal of the club by SMS, clarify any doubts

Am i right in saying that Eto would be lost to the African nations cup 2010 ?
yep
Which is why we have RSC.

Only if Cameroon qualify. They are currently bottom of their group which is only 4 teams and the top 3 qualify.Long shot but they may miss out

Re: Samuel Eto'o [merged]

During his first season at Barcelona, Eto’o caused trouble when he celebrated the Catalan giants’ title success by chanting anti-Real Madrid songs at the Merengues fans.

Would anyone really mind if he followed this trend in the Derby?
