Even if we play our socks off and scramble a win against one of the Top Six sides in Europe right now, we are still unlikely to qualify. Why therefore risk our best players, when we need them for the big games coming against resurgent Chelsea and Arsenal sides. We can keep Kompany, Silva, Yaya, Nasri and Dzeko on the bench, if needed,

Hart
Zabaleta
Savic
Lescott
Clichy
De Jong
Barry
Milner
Johnson
Balotelli
Aguero

I think Napoli will beat Villareal. But there's no way that Mancini can approach the Bayern game with that mentality. He has to play what he considers to be the best team to beat Bayern.

Having said that I still think he will take a patient approach to the match. We cant afford to let them catch us on the break early on. Probably 0-0 at HT with City scoring twice in the second half.

If we were to lose against either Bayern or Chelsea, which would it be? For me, it has to be Bayern, as Chelsea are still serious title contenders, especially if they buy Modric during the January window. A defeat at the Bridge should be avoided even if it means losing the tiny hope we may have had of somehow getting through in the Champions League. Playing a mixture of first and second eleven players against Bayern at home may still be good enough to secure a win, but not so against Chelsea in their own back yard.

i find it amazing people are wanting us to throw this game away

we have to win. if napoli win fair enough but can you imagine the uproar on here should we play a weakened side, not win and then napoli dont win either.

it will be all negative shite again on here

play our strongest side and lets show that on our day we are more than capable of beating probably the 3rd best side in europe at the moment

If we were to field a weakened team, lose or draw, and then find out that Villareal had held Napoli, we would be the biggest laughing stock of all time. Mancini's credibility would be shot for good.

My starting 11 against Bayern would be

Hart
Zabaleta-Kompany-Lescott-Clichy
Yaya-DeJong-Barry
Aguero-Dzeko-Silva

Subs - Pantilimon, Toure, Kolarov, Milner, Nasri, Johnson, Balotelli

I'd start Zabaleta ahead of Richards in this game because he's a tad more disciplined defensively. I'd like to see DeJong just sat in front of Kompany and Lescott, with Zabaleta and Clichy being conseravite when going forward making sure we aren't exposed to counter attacks when we lose the ball. We want to make sure with all the need for a goal we don't open ourselves up to conceding a silly goal. With a disciplined back 4 and DeJong we can allow the front 3 to concentrate on attacking. The work of Yaya and Barry will be very important in dropping in and helping out defensivley then picking up the ball and quickly driving on to create chances for our front 3.

As for the Villareal Napoli game i can see Villareal pulling something off. But we need to make sure we win and make it as difficult as possible for Napoli. Come on the Blues!

Game against Chelsea on Monday night plenty of time from Wednesday for players to recover, best side for me please. Hope he starts Balotelli to again test his attitude in the big game.

Hart
Richards
Kompany
Lescott
Clichy

NDJ
Milner
Yaya

Silva
Balotelli
Aguero

Subs
Pants
AJ
Barry
Dzeko
Kolo
Zab
Nasri

that's the one for me, and I think it's how the midfield will play out given who Mancini started yesterday.
