Official coaches to Wembley (Sportsworld)

I hadn't been to Wembley on a coach since 1981 and I was shocked that facilities onboard hadn't improved one bit. Small uncomfortable seats with a space in front Ryanair would have been proud of lol. No wi fi and I could see what looked like charging points but they were weirdly hidden in the wall adjacent to the seats so you could barely see them. No drinks or sandwiches offered, luckily I brought my own. There were TV screens but not on, no radio, nothing. Thank God I could pick up signal on my phone so I could get some internet. I think City must sub contract them out which is why you don't get any information on facilities onboard, or perhaps if there aren't any, as there weren't, there's no point.

As I've said before I'm grateful there were coaches due to the train strike, before anybody else accuses me of always moaning lol. I told him we were discussing the service offered and most people's experience wasn't good, particularly with the pink car park fiasco added on. Some people love travelling that way and I guess on reflection it may have been safer than the train and tube considering it was the rags. Mind you the rats were kicking off at the services on the way home.

I think coaches speed is restricted to 50 mph so it's always going to be a minimum of four hours each way. If only Wembley could find a speedier way of getting people in and out, given the area I guess that's impossible, another reason it should have been purpose built in the Midlands.
@paulchapo the main point you make is that there were no trains. That meant no drinking for one person who had to drive, an overnight stop (with rags everywhere) or a coach. We chose the coach. The Hale and Alty branch did an excellent coach but they cannot be responsible for the disgrace that is Wembley and the FA. The Pink car park was not fit for purpose but let's be honest, as soon as you leave the M1 it is gridlock. It is where the ground is situated and the total lack of decent roads that were the problem. 2 hours sat on a car park is a killer. Because of that and problems within Wembley, I doubt I will go again. (Champs league final aside)

Big events like this mean coaches are hard to source. They would have been using vehicles not normally assigned to long distance work. Pot luck which coach you end up with I suppose.

As for 50 mph max, not a chance with the amount that overtook me at times.

I did it first couple of times but never again, awful way to travel and probably includes a trek to and from your start point for most.

I would rather drive with a couple of pints spread out during the day than suffer that.

There were more coaches than usual so I assume they (Wembley) just accepted it was going to be quite bad. Unfortunately a lot also got held up behind the fella who needed medical attention and our driver was clearly flooring it all the way back and had no time left in his shift to make the scheduled stop. I didn’t think ours was too bad, considering. I was more unhappy with the route they took going in than coming out, as it added 1hr to the journey (or 3 pints worth of drinking time).

Next time Rail strike won't be a problem.
Loads of ways to go by train if you are creative.
I spent more on fuel, parking and train ticket from Watford to Wembley compared to what I normally spend with a mainly Rail based route with a short drive to somewhere to start with.

My plan was to go by train Friday and stay a couple of nights but the strike then got extended to Friday as well. Also hotel prices had doubled from the Watford cup final. I think I paid about £150 for a Travelodge for two nights but this year they were showing up as £350 minimum. I knew it would be a grueller by coach but winning eased the pain.

62mph is the limit
