**OFFICIAL** hamburg stories thread

- took us close to 40 hours drinving/ferry there and back
- nicked table cloths from the boat to use as blankets (beautiful material)
- got inflatable tyre float and bodyboard taken off us on way in
- exhausted after 40+ minutes jumming on metal chair singing the blues
- nearly got thrown over fence when we scored ... AMAZING

Hamburg is a brilliant city.

That Reeperbahn square will live with me to my deathbed. We were walking down it looking for a few City fans and although we saw a few scattered outside Mcdonalds etc we thourght that this surely cant be it. Saw the square and it was absolutely bouncing at times. Sat in a cafe there by the side for abit and then joined the party. Saw Jason Manford with his family there and had a quick chat, sound lad he is aswell.

Before the match we headed back into the City centre, had something to eat there and then caught the train a few stations before the Reeperbahn. We were the only City fans on the train and were getting more than a few stares from the Hamburg fans onboard. Que about 500 City fans getting on at the Reeperbahn stop. The HSV fans quite literally shit themselves and then looked rather bemused for the whole journey. Very funny stuff.

Dont think I have celebrated a goal like that for some time. Got an elbow in the face, im sure I caught someone with a loose arm - but no-one cared it was superb.

Went to the stadium before the game in the morning and saw a gate was open so snuck in to have a glance of the staidium. German copper saw me and asked who I was what I was doing etc. Cue a moment from Allo Allo.

That goal celebration took everything out of me, all I remember was flying down about 7 stairs haha, and remember turning round to see ric, who shouted "have we scored" followed by everyone hugging the nearest person to them

Just got back at 4am this morning, what a great trip! Promised myself I wouldn't get too pissed before the game, but that went out the window as we entered the square. Fantastic atmosphere and the train journey was something else! Can't remember a great deal, but there was a lad singing with us who suddenly broke into a rap/poem about city! It was awsome, who was that man? What are those words?!
Hamburg fans were tremendous and the policing I thought was second to none. Noone gave us any shit and allowed us to get on with it, which on the whole was good natured and typical city!
By the way, who was that loony in the square with the tats and his shirt off foaming at the mouth at one point? He nicked my bannana, but to be fair I wasn't going to argue about it!

Come on lads, who's gonna hold their hands up and own up to drinking in a German gay bar(the one on the corner by the coppers).ha
Me!

Fantastic trip, only bad thing was the result. We went on the lowcostsports overnighter and everything went like clockwork, so thanks to them too.

The square of the Reeperbahn was before the game was great, all the Hamburg fans were sound too and had a good crack with them on the train to the stadium. Celebration of our goal was mental, we were shouting at the ref to blow for full time then. Had some time to have a look round the city too and will definitely be back, went round Hafen City, into the centre around the Town Hall and a leisurely walk through the huge park to the north of the centre the following day to walk off the excesses of the day before. And came back with a bit of a suntan to boot!

Laughing at two lads (About 16) viewing, how shall we put this. CERTAIN sights and trying to convince the said female that 50 euros was good value and were willing to part with there hard earned pocket money. She did not beleave they were old enough and wanted proof off there agae despite one who was saying "I was born in 1988" it fell on deaf ears.

Got there on the Sport Options trip, stayed in the Marriott. I remember seeing the square and couldn't believe it. It was like a house party, every time you turned around, someone else was there you knew and if you went for a piss, you'd be back half an hour later because you were chatting to mates and stuff.

I remember shaking hands before the game with loads of Hamburg fans. Some guy gave me his cap before the game. At half time me and me mate Gemma were dancing on the concourse, I lay on my back and shouted "spin me, spin me", which she did, but we were that drunk that I just fell on my side. This was in front of about 20 German riot police, who were pissing themselves, and started chucking money at us.

Managed to get back to the Reeperbahn after some Hamburg fans helped us get the right train. I stopped a dog handler where the trains were, but got a bit close. The dog started going for me and he was shouting "TOOH CLOSE. YOU AH TOOH CLOSE". I just got nearer saying "Trains mate. Trains? There?". Ha ha. By this point the dog was starting to scrape me and was covering me in spit. I work with police dogs, so knew he wouldn't go for me unless he was given a command to do it, so wasn't worried.

Afterwards we just ploughed through the drink the square until we couldn't do it anymore.

I'll just remember the sunshine, the party atmosphere and the great welcome we had by the Hamburg fans and the coppers. Would love to go back to Hamburg to watch a game.

Apart from the goal and the singin' the blues chorus. The highlight of the trip was seeing my mate's face when he got the bill for fish and chips from the cafe opposite the train station 35 euro's - yes 35 euro's!

I can safely say that was the best away trip ever. The atmosphere in that square was amazing.I went with Lowcost and stayed over night in St Josephs on the Reeperbahn. I remember being half cut and looking at my watch and it was only half 2, only another 7 hours drinking before the game. I think De niro deafened me with his horn. The train was manic on our journey to the ground. People were dropping like flies and collapsing it was that crammed. I missed the goal and rushed in and was caught up in the domino effect of people falling into each other and tumbling down rows of seats. We got back to the reeperbahn and carried on until 4am. I woke up and SURPRISINGLY had no hangover from drinking at least 30 beers and carried on in the square again before our flight home. No away trip can beat that. Their was no trouble and i have to praise the German police. They had the presence there but just let us party and let us get on with it. Truly memorable
