Official Hamburg vs Manchester City FC Thread

I think we need to play 4-4-2 away, with someone for Bellamy to run off so I've chose Evans as he seems to win the most in the air out of all our strikers and is also good at holding it up and laying the ball off.

If Bridge, Kompany and Ireland are fit:

..................Given..................
Richards...Dunne...Onuoha...Bridge
SWP...Zabaleta...Kompany...Ireland
...........Evans....Bellamy...........

Subs: Hart, Robinho, Elano, Petrov, Sturridge, Berti, McGivern.

If there out:

..................Given..................
Richards..Dunne..Onuoha..McGivern
SWP...Zabaleta...Elano...Robinho
...........Evans....Bellamy...........

Subs: Hart, Petrov, Caicedo, Sturridge, Logan, Berti, Weiss.

Hamburg 1 (Pitroipa) City 1 (Bellamy).

my team would be

---------------Given---------------
Richards--onuaha--Dunne--Bridge/garrido/pab

Sweep---Komps/Pab----elano---Studge

--------------------robbie-----------
-----------------Bellers--------------

should nick a goal or two maybe concede 3 but i am pretty confident we should have em at CoMs

City: This is City's 15th UEFA Cup game of the season and they are the only side left in the competition to have competed in the qualifying phase. Yet they have not won on their last three UEFA Cup away days, and this after emerging victorious in their first four European away games this campaign.

Hamburg: Jerome Boateng is suspended. José Paolo Guerrero and Frank Rost are within a caution of a one-match lay-off.

City: Elano Blumer, Vincent Kompany, Micah Richards and Pablo Zabaleta are within a booking of one-match bans.

Given

Garrido (unless they gamble on Ryan McGivern)
Dunne
Onuoha
Richards

Zabaleta
Elano
AN Other (Gelson, Hamann, Negouai, Whitley, whoever....)

Robinho
Bellamy
SWP

There's one glaring vacancy in centre mid - there's no one I particularly want to play there. Can we challenge HSV to a game of ten a side?

I like that idea.

I'm also a fan of Sturridge out wide, it worked well in Schalke. It all depends on the injuries.

I do think that any of the players who aren't 100% and a booking away from being suspended for the home leg should be rested. It isn't worth the double risk of them being injured or suspended.

if kompany does,nt make it would you think of playing micah in the holding role in midfield to give us a bit of height and power in the midfield play logan at right back i just think with a midfield of swp elano zab and robbie would be to attacking and to lightweight and we would get overrun by hamburg just praying bridge and kompany both make it

Richards played centre midfield against Midtyjlland away and was utter dross.
