Just a thought, but... Hows about this for a tactic against the better of the competition? It'd be a lot of a change, and probably far too negative for a home game. But it kept Barca out, at the Nou Camp, so would almost certainly prevent anything worse than a draw vs Arsenal at home.
-------------- Shay -------------
Nedum -- Toure -- Lescott -- Zab
------------ De Jong ------------
SWP --- Stevie --- Barry --- Robbie
----------- Adebayor -------------
The idea being to keep the back 4 fairly narrow and compact so as to really squeeze the space inside the box, and have SWP and Robbie (yes, I know- but Tevez is an option too) work back and defend the flanks. Likewise, the oppo will find it hard to work an angle between the the CBs and the midfield, particurlarly with the anchor of De Jong (abley assisted by Barry) in there. Going forward, it has pace on the flanks, and both CMs have the ability to go forward and do damage, particurlarly Stevie who has a specific instruction to get in there to help out and pick up loose balls from Ade. We appear to have a genuine threat developing now from set pieces, so while it's a bit Bolton-esque, I'd take if for a win.
If it was at The Emirates, this would be a great formation, and I do tip this one to get an outing at the swamp.
