Fantastic result - very resolute second half when Villa pushed and superb second with Boj, Ireland and SWP playing some great stuuf. Fair play to MH, thought bringing Boj on was wrong but to quote from Top Gun:

Is it just a coincidence or does SWP play better when Robbie isn't playing?
Robbie is class but when he plays we tend to use him more and SWP sees little of the ball.
He was brilliant tonight as was Ireland and Elano.
Is it just a coincidence that all three played their best games in ages?
We struggled for a while without DeJong but even when Villa took hold of the game we still looked
class when catching them on the break.
The back four was great although Zab struggled a bit.
Overall a thoroughly deserved three points even though I did think we'd blow it after our domination in the first half. (Typical City and all that)
One of the best performances of the season against a good team.
Even Ched looked decent when he came on, great chest down for Elano and wonderful to see him run back deep into the City half to win a tackle.

Villa are horribly overrated if thats how they play weak in week out... they're playing Bolton-esque football hidden by flair moments from Agbonlahor and Young.

Everything is back before forward and hoof to Heskey or Carew... i hope that's their wheels falling off now and Arsenal or Everton pip them to fourth... becasue we all now know they don't value the Uefa Cup whatsoever!

With an in-form Bellamy and a motivated Robinho, we might have knicked a result but, without them, we have no chance. Man for man in every single position on the park (except goalie), they are much better than us. If Given plays a blinder, we may keep the score down to 0-1 but am expecting much worse.

Just got back, fantastic result anf great performance. I was impressed with Elano and Sweep,i also thought Bridge and Dunne had a goodun today, thought caeciedo had a shocker. But what suprises me the most is we can pull off a great result with a good performance with 2 of our star players missing against arguably the strongest possible villa side. Overall, i believe today was just an example of what we can do iif we put our mind to it, Bring on chelsea!

Wow ... lmao ... Great Result ... I love it when people get proven wrong. Seems like some people just want to put City down and see them lose soo bad! Even our own fans.

Everyone played great except Kompany seemed to trail off in the second half, Fernando tried hard but looked poor. De Jong was fantastic, and Zabaleta did good up midfield but occasionally drifted once or twice at back.

Bringing Boj on was the wrong thing to do in my opinion. Of course I am delighted we won, but just because we did, it doesn't automatically mean Hughes made the right decision. I don't think he did.

I think Hughes makes some very poor substitution decisions generally. Not making changes when they are needed is his usual failing. Or making them too late.

This was another daft one. But he got away with it this time, largely because the team played so damned well.
