Why was there no poll after we won in germany or after we beat arsenal. Just pandering to the hughes hater's of which a certain mod is and has the advantage of calling these polls at the drop of a hat. Sack hughes and replace him with who. Not one of the hate'rs cant say who we will get to replace him. Fuck off with the jose shit. He ain't coming.

Wake up tomorrow and the result is still 0-1.

Either you want Hughes are you don't, it won't change this time tomorrow.

Are you trying to tell me that people don't make rash decisions straight after an event?

Considering you are a mod here, I don't think I need to tell you just how fickle this place can be!

Spot on Elanjo... Why didn't we get this poll after the win at Schalke? I wonder what the result would've been then? You remember that game all of 16 days ago!

Fickle? Absolutely!

Because then it wouldn't be a debate, would it? No club sacks a manager when the team is winning games. Except Chelsea maybe.

If the results are below expectations, then people are going to start asking questions. No-one in the media would suggest sacking Hughes if it was all smooth sailing, no-one would be saying it on here, and none of the players would criticise the manager.

And for the record, I think he should stay. For now. Because what we're being served up at the moment is shit.

But we're not in charge of the hiring and firing at City, so the only thing this poll really achieves is to give the Hughes Boo Boys yet another avenue for them to vent their frustrations... and we all know they definitely needed another one of those, right?

Ah, but the "Hughes out" folks were in full verse way before the Schalke game ;)

Apart from the 'Lets give him time' cliche is there any good sensible reason why anyone would keep a manager that took over a team that finished 9th last year then added 60mil+ of players but hasnt improved 1 bit?

Knee and Jerk. get a grip ffs. looking at barca v real tonight made me realise to be as good as some people think we already are we need at least eight first team(not squad) players. some of the overreaction on here is going to look seriously stupid in time.

Hughes' season hasn't gone well so far, there can be little argument there, but when I look at the players he's brought in (Robinho, Kompany, Zabaleta, SWP, and TBH), I think on a whole he's done a great job in the transfer market. When he has the time to bring in even more of his own players I expect we'll be a much improved side. So the 'let's give him time' argument stands up very well for me!

Unfortunately City's main focus now is to keep their Premiership status. We've dropped too many points to think about top 6 finish unless we go on an amazing run over the next month or two. I can't see how we'll climb at present. I was all for giving Hughes a chance but I'm beginning to have my doubts. I hope he does turn it round and we see the same performances we saw against West Ham, Sunderland, Pompey and the recent one against Arsenal. Maybe some players are carrying a few more injuries we don't know about, maybe its players misunderstanding each other, who knows. At present I just see us in the same freefall mode as Spurs were in and Newcastle can't seem to snap out of and worryingly it could affect bringing in some quality in January to flesh the squad out a bit more.

The bottom line is we need to be in the premiership at the end of this season otherwise all this talk of making us successful is going to take an awful lot longer than we envisaged. I know I sound a alarmist as its not as if we play that badly, on the contrary, Ireland, Robinho, SWP and Elano had some good chances today and in any other match those chances may have gone in. I just feel it could turn into quite a humiliating season if things go drastically wrong over the next couple of months and the typical City comments won't be funny this time. Hopefully the new year will swing in our favour and we'll start to see the early promise realised.
All I'm hoping for at the moment is we stay up. Didn't think I'd be back to that way of thinking ever again.

Agreed. Shame he can't get them to play as a team and like you know win games but fair play hes done a stand out job so far.

I also think its funny that Jo has been dropped from the roster of Hughes signings. A few months back I had everyone swearing blind that the Jo signing only went through because Hughes gave it the nod.

Ah well at least Robinho is still on the Hughes 'players wot i bought' list :)

jo was coming from sven's time. Giving to hughes while still under frank's regime. As for Robinho why would hughes refuse him either.

The man continues to enjoy my backing.

33 years of a revolving door on the managers office at City. Right, lads, lets have a volunteer. Who's going to tell me what it's got us?

You'd hardly notice another name on the list though.

Seriously though I'm not a big Hughes fan, but I do think that we've got to give him time. The above post is correct, we're a team constantly in a state of flux, that needs to stop pretty soon if we want to be successful.

Maybe Hughes isn't the right man for a project like this. I don't know. But please, lets get behind him and the team at least until the end of season. (Unless we sign Bellamy, which is definitely a sackable offense.)

By 5:45pm tommorrow this could be the table

Code:
15 Newcastle 17 -5 19
16 West Ham 17 -7 19
17 Man City 17 5 18
---------------------------------------
18 Sunderland 17 -8 18
19 Blackburn 17 -17 13
20 West Brom 17 -20 12

THAT IS NOT ACCEPTABLE

All those who are saying give the man time, to stop this revolving door at city. The time for that to happen was last year with Sven. You don't keep clueless managers who after half way through the season with players such as Robinho, Ireland, SWP, Kompany ect can only get his side to be joint 3rd from bottom.

Those who are saying give him time in my eyes are only saying this because they are sick of swapping and changing managers and not because they beleive he will get it right.

The man is clueless and needs to go. What does it take for people to realise he is no good. Keeping him 6 months is not going to change anything, it is going to make it worse.

The spin at the time from a Mr G Cook was that Hughes had the final say on whether they took Jo or not. Hughes gave it the thumbs up. Mind you Mr Cook also said that about Ronaldinho so hey believe what you will when the Cookmeister speaks.

For me Hughes had no choice on Jo (or Ronaldinho for that matter) or Robinho or indeed any other major star that may be gift wrapped and delivered by ADUG (all hail ADUG). Hughes does get to choose on RSC and others at that level. But people do have to make up their minds as to whether

1. Hughes has 100% control and say on signings in which case he did sign Jo but then also gets Robinho
2. Hughes does not have 100% control and say on signings in which case he is off the hook for Jo but also loses Robinho.

You pays your money and takes your choice I guess.
