I'm really annoyed.

The football world is available to us, and we've sat on arses with our thumbs half way to our brains. Elia, Hazard, Bojan, Joaquin, Mata; all names we could have had today.

Well, I'm predicting 5th.

You're such a depressing **** at times. We've just thrown around £300m in 2 years
You could have been less harsh than that. Calling me a "****" because I'm angry that we've not done business today. I thought you were better than that.

When Silva gets injured and Wright-Phillips has to play instead of him, you will ALL be moaning about this day, and this window, and that we wasted it. Elia has fallen out with Hamburg, and is looking for a new club. Elia, a quick, pacy winger. Dzeko was the missing piece when we had Johnson and Balotelli, but now we need a winger. Just a loan deal would have done.

Can ANYBODY see my point?

Having watched Dzeko alot in german league i think an on form torres would be streets ahead of dzeko on his day. I hope im proved wrong.

You'd hope so for twice the price, wouldn't you.

They were just examples of wingers who we could have had on loan until the end of the season.

Tottenham, Chelsea and Liverpool have all strengthened, we lose Johnson, Balotelli and Adebayor until the end of the season, but keep Jo. We have nobody. What happens when Silva or Tevez miss a game? We have Wright-Phillips to replace him... and then what?

Disappointed is not the word.

We can have 6 month loan moves. We don't necessarily have to buy all the time!

We have strengthened with Dzeko - Balotelli is not out for the rest of the season
He's out for 2 or 3 months. You can lose a league position in that time.

Are you fucking mad?

Do you actually think that clubs will just give us one of their best players for 6 months on loan?

This isn't Football Manager, and your recent comments about City show you up as an immature, impatient, knee jerking kid. It was only yesterday that you were slagging off Dzeko and calling him shit.

In what way are the players you've listed 'available to us'?

Mata has just signed a new contract, stating in the process that he wants to stay at Valencia. He's not available.

Bojan has just signed a new contract, stating in the process that doesn't want to leave Barca. Ever. He's not available.

Hazard has stated that he wants to go to Arsenal in the summer, and would therefore more than likely snub any advances we made, so isn't available.

Joaquin is shit - he may well be available, but he's exactly the kind of player we shouldn't be just chucking money at so we can say we've signed somebody.

Elia I'll give you, but he hardly represents 'The Football World', so I don't see whay's worth getting upset about in terms of us not signing him.

A classic bit of Bluemoon Drama-Queenery. The fact is that there was fook all time left to sort a decent player out, and very limited availability - we'd have been in danger of overpaying on another average player, who we'd be desperate to get rid of 12 month's time but would be unable to because we'd be paying them such high wages because their agent had us over the barrel on deadline day.

We've done enough of that over the past couple of seasons to know its not the route to success.

Fair enough mate - the point I was trying to make was that we couldn't have had them on loan because they weren't available.

I just think its more difficult to get the right players at such short notice than most would give credit for. I would have loved to see a decent winger come in as much as the next fan, but its easier said than done.

And Tottenham have hardly strengthened in my opinion (Pienaar is a very average signing). Whilst the Rags or Arsenal haven't strengthened at all. The only ones who have done any major business are Liverpool, Chelsea and Us, lest we forget.

Disappointing if true but we still have a group of players more than capable of finishing in the top 4.

I can see 'arry making a big signing before the window closes though.
I agree with the top 4 bit. But nobody can serious look our team at the minute and over last few games n say we are the finished article, we have no real pace in the team and anybody who can beat a man.

Richards, Tevez and Balotelli can beat a man. Which is pretty much the number of players United have who can do the same (Rafael, Nani, Evra)

I think there is a balance to be struck here. I'm disappointed but the circumstances aren't ideal. Take a look at the names who are actually moving - Carroll, Adam, Keane - the fact of the matter is the calibre of player we want to fine tune the squad just isn't available in January. We've done one piece of fine tuning with Dzeko. I think another 2 or 3 are needed before Mancini would feel comfortable with what he has. But those players just aren't on the cards right now. So we move on. Neither Arsenal, Spurs or United have strengthened. Ourselves and Chelsea have brought in a striker. In the grand scheme of things not much has changed and we find ourselves in 3rd. I'm reasonably happy with that.
