Richards and Balotelli are always injured so thats out the window. We need someone with a bit of trickery not just big lumps who kick the ball and run.Project said:Ireland_for_pm said:I agree with the top 4 bit. But nobody can serious look our team at the minute and over last few games n say we are the finished article, we have no real pace in the team and anybody who can beat a man.
Richards, Tevez and Balotelli can beat a man. Which is pretty much the number of players United have who can do the same (Rafael, Nani, Evra)
I think there is a balance to be struck here. I'm disappointed but the circumstances aren't ideal. Take a look at the names who are actually moving - Carroll, Adam, Keane - the fact of the matter is the calibre of player we want to fine tune the squad just isn't available in January. We've done one piece of fine tuning with Dzeko. I think another 2 or 3 are needed before Mancini would feel comfortable with what he has. But those players just aren't on the cards right now. So we move on. Neither Arsenal, Spurs or United have strengthened. Ourselves and Chelsea have brought in a striker. In the grand scheme of things not much has changed and we find ourselves in 3rd. I'm reasonably happy with that.
I think that if we'd looked hard enough, someone would have come to us. Even on a loan deal. Elia of Hamburg has fallen out and wants to go. He'd be worth a loan deal at least.Ntini77 said:He has done nothing. He's not even looked for back-up or another option.

Word from Lisbon is that #Benfica have agreed to sell David Luiz to Chelsea. Not confirmed by #CFC yet. Details later.

But there are wingers out there, Damocles, that would be willing to help us in our push for Champions League football, albeit a short time. I'm not expecting Messi or Ronaldo to come swanning in for 6 months and then head off again, but what I am pissed off about is that Mancini is actually HAPPY with this squad. He has done nothing. He's not even looked for back-up or another option. He is relying on Tevez and Silva staying fit. That's a risk you can't take when you're fighting for glory.
I know this isn't Football Manager. I never once suggested that it was, but like I said, if Silva misses a game, what do we do? We couldn't score past Notts County without him on the pitch. As soon as he came on, we looked different. Have we won a game this season that Silva hasn't been involved in? Because I can't remember one.
I'm disappointed. Mancini has take a massive risk. A risk that is very unlikely to pay off. I'm not annoyed that we've not done business on this particular day, but we've known for almost a week that Johnson was going to be out for a while. That's more than enough time to attempt to get SOMETHING done.
And, I was trolling about Dzeko.
Calm down Bob. I know you were fishing. Damocles was deadly serious when he called Tevez shit though.

Eh? The official word has always been Dzeko and maybe Luiz. We signed Dzeko two days after the window opened. So what exactly have we left to the last day? The only reason people are going OTT is because AJ is out for the season, which we couldn't have predicted.
Couldnt put it any better myself where has this show of power come in january. Altough i trust what tolmie has always said and still will.Soulboy said:Andouble said:@DuncanCastlesDuncan Castles

Ah, that must be Chelsea's show of power.
They sign both of our targets, Torres and Luiz.
That puts us in our place...;-))
