Always felt safe when he started games for us and me dad pointed out that if a City attacker got whacked that De Jong had clocked it and retribution would follow later on. Not straight away but he'd remember.
Loved him in derby games.

Yeah.

Though he's gone we'll never get bullied whilst Vinny, Yaya, Micah or el Zabs is around.

Looks like he heard the cries of "SHOOT!" All the way from Manchester...

Will always have a place in my heart for Nige. I miss his heart, his guts, his protection of our back line, and as many others have said, his name on the team sheet on derby day. I may be getting silly here, but I believe we may see him back in blue at some point.

Seemed to be a popular lad in the dressing room, all our players loved him and you can see the AC players are delighted for him when he scores.Very hard to cultivate that kind of feeling with all your teammates.I really do miss him.

Ledge for me, one of my favourite City players ever, loved his all action style.

As it is so often claimed he left because we wouldn't pay him what we wanted, I would love to know what we offered him and what Milan offered to secure his transfer.

I'd like to get Milan in the CL. I'd give de Jong a huge welcome back. Still love him like he was a City player.

Nigel played a pivotal role in our FA Cup and League Title success. He played the ball into Sergio before the one-two with Mario lying on the ground. Most players would have hoofed it forward. He is a class act and if it wasn't for Kia the snake he would still be with us.

Was absolutely pivotal in the Fa cup season but on the periphery in the title winning season as his lack of mobility and attacking ability was found out in the new system. I'm not having it that he was a pivotal role in the title winning season and the goal was all about Sergio and Mario, de Jong can take little or no credit at all for it IMO

What a cracking goal!

NdJ doesn't score tap-ins,does he?

I liked Nigel at City, but his days were numbered ere, IMHO.

Remember, he only came on in the QPR game because YaYa did his hamstring.

But a great character apparently, and I'm sure he's still in touch with many of his former team-mates at Etihad.
