Old Cinemas

I can remember watching ET in the one above Kwik Save in Burnage, GoodFellas on a first date at Cine City, Doctor Who at the Savoy and walk the line at the one at the roundabout in Davyhulme - all sadly now gone.

The Curzon in Urmston (bloody Davyhulme!). Now a dance school. It used to have 2 auditoria: the major and the minor. Loved it their.

Haha, Lurch at the Roxy used to scare the crap out of me with his stick and temperament. What was his actual job? Was he employed simply to shout at people and look scary?

I can't remember the names of the cinemas but I'm convinced I went to see Muppet's Christmas Carol at the cinema that is now the Moon Under Water Pub on Deansgate.
It was called the ABC.

Saw lots of films there but going to see Jaws is the only one that I can name.

Thinking about, probably saw ET there.
I saw ET there as well. Think it was my second date with my now ex.

My memory might be playing tricks on me, but I could swear I saw Superman at a cinema in Chorlton. The building became Sale Cycles and then Blockbuster. Can anyone confirm that it was a cinema?

Deanway DIY on Kenyon Lane is the former Adelphi cinema and is amazing when you go in there (assuming it is still open).
Very spookily quiet in there and the stage is still there, and all the goods for sale are stacked on the rows where the seats were from top to bottom.
You get the feeling in there that a ghost of a women will come down selling ice creams......

Here is a video of a cinema buff exploring it.
