Old Maine Road photos thread

Good spot that. The floodlights at Maine Road were more tripod shaped than those.
Another clue that the photo is Everton not Maine Road is the KB registration plate on the car. In the days when license plates told where you were from the letters KA through KD indicated l'pool. Manchester had NA, NB etc.

Maine Road's floodlights though, they were always a goodbye or welcome back sign when I'd take the airport bus down Princess Parkway going between Victoria Station and M/cr Airport on trips to or from the u.s

Blue arrow is the railing where my dad used to plonk me on to watch the games. I only ever saw him Saturday afternoon and Sundays as he was always working in the week. Special times.
I was usually above the other tunnel near Platt lane corner end of the kippax - seems we were unknowingly symmetryical :)

That joke was used in a film about a City striker who got kidnapped. Keith Allen was in it and parking his car when a kid says it to him. Think the line was "can you dog pump up tyres".

Can't remember the name of the film.
I watched that with glee. A full on City fest. Funnily enough, it was on exactly the same time as them cunts playing Palace in the 90 fa cup final replay.

Did they recored the actors running out on to the pitch with the actual team, as though they were in the side?

Got a memory of a ginger bloke and a black bloke.

I remember them coming out thinking “who the fuck are they?”

Those talking about the film called Shooting Stars. An ex EastEnders actor played Kalvin who was kidnapped. The opening scenes were against our home defeat against Liverpool just after Mel Machins sacking. Tony Book was in charge and I think the score was 1-4. Clive Allen with the penalty. Long time ago now.

I was sat in the Main Stand near the half way line slightly to the right and in front of the directors box for that game and I turned round and gave Swales a round of fucks after the fourth went in - pretty sure it was McMahon. The **** looked right through me, obviously, although I think he was looking in my general direction!
