Old Manchester cinemas

used to make that whooping noise where you pretend to be a red indian by patting your mouth with you palm, don't think thats allowed aymore

Spent many a happy hour in The Cinephone on Market Street in my dirty mac in the 70's, watching films like Lust in the swamps. There was another one in Winton, Bournemouth called Harry Mear's Continental cinema. lol!

Yes, I remember the Capitol - it was a big place, quite luxurious I suppose.
Ah, the names, suffused with the warm glow of nostalgia......

The Casino and the Trocadero in Rusho;me
The Kingsway (on Kingsawy...)
The Lido in Burnage
The Scala in Withington
The Palatine, West Didsbury
The Coronation (I think) in Northenden
The Regent (in the back streets of Hulme)
The Electra, Cheadle
The Elysian, Cheadle Hulme
The Tatton, Gatley. You couldn;t move for bloody picture palaces then......
I was wrong - it was the Rivoli. Denmark Road, Chorlton o Medlock, not the \Regent. The Regent was on Princess Road, Fallowfield.

And the Regal Twins on Oxford Street? (As opposed to the Regal, Le(enshulme)
