Old Manchester cinemas

Not too many shouts out for North Manchester Cinemas. I used to go the the Saturday afternoon matinee, kids used to stamp their feet when the film broke or stopped

The Major and the Minor.

Saw The Exorcist in The Minor. Several pints in the Coach and Horses later hadn‘t calmed my nerves. Cracking cinema.

That was it...I actually got tickets for the last ever screening before it closed, can't remember the film though ?
Four Weddings and a Funeral??

Remember the temple very well...used to go there to watch Saturday matinee...also remember if you had certain amount of tea wrappers you got in free once a year and got a drink and sweets....good old days.
Also remember going in the temple pub when I was 16.
Changed so much round there now even temple school been knocked down and moved.
IMG-20211214-WA0000.jpg There you go I watched Star Wars there too. Do you remember the Saturday matinee I watched Herbie goes bananas, Flash Gordon....Jeez I feel old now.

No one mentioned the VIP Cinema in town on Oxford St / Oxford Road yet at the bottom of the stairs up to Oxford Road Station?

The Tatton in Gatley went to the Saturday afternoon matinees as a kid and in later years had a pint in the mop and got fish and chips from Wilfs chippy.
Sweet memories

Don’t get me wrong, I can appreciate a bit of well acted porn as much as the next man.

But the thought of watching it in a cinema surrounded by weird fuckers who are quite happy to be sat there wanking away in front of a bunch of strangers, is enough to make me physically sick.

What sort of not right would go to a place like that?

Cheers for that mate..I remember Flash Gordon..they used to have a free day once a year at the pictures..if I remember correctly it was something to do with collecting tea packets or summat..you got free entry and some sweets and a drink of pop..
I went to the Bruce Lee films there when Kung Fu was all the rage..I don't think they bothered too much with checking ages as I was about 15/16 and looked way younger but still got in to all the 18 films..
Bloody hell time really does pass by quickly
