Oldham Athletic thread

When we had our annual Christmas match "In Memoriam" at the Etihad last December I noticed the name Sandy Wann as one of those who had passed away in 2019. He was a half-back who I remember seeing play for the Latics but don't recall him playing for City. He's not listed in Ray Goble's record book of City either. Perhaps he ended up working for City ? No doubt Gary James would know.
He’s not listed in the players' section of Bluemoon History site.

Maybe he was on our books for a while, but never made a first-team appearance.

Just looked on wikipedia sandy wann 1958 - 60 on city books but never played made about 16 performances for Latics

Yeah, sounds about right.
Thanks for that - it confirms that my memory isn't going just yet !
It is good to know that each year our Club doesn't just remember those who played for the first team. Once a Blue, always a Blue.

Oldham Athletic have appointed former Liverpool and Leeds United winger Harry Kewell as their new manager.
They certainly know how to get through managers!

This fellas managerial record is appalling

Another case of giving it to a semi big name in the hope it generates a bit of interest and excitement

May as well as given it back to that unknown fella from last year who game from the academy via Oldham Sunday League. But he even saw sense and bailed out when the crackpot owner started picking the team

National league awaits

Got Stockport written all over it always liked Latics but think like many clubs this pandemic is going to cause them to end up part timers and out of the leagues unless the FA for what they are worth restructure first move to cut expenses would be to go back to Regional leagues at least for the bottom 44 clubs or so
