Oleksandr Zinchenko | Joins Arsenal for £30m

This is mostly true. Should've commanded £20m.

I think he's decent and has good potential, but it's unlikely we'll miss him or he'll become a great.

People always say this but if £16m is such a terrible price then why hasn't anyone else offered more? For a lower table premier league side, a proven solid performer from the championship might be a safer bet than someone who has only been given limited game time out of position.

The Maddison comparison isn't a great one. Sure he's been playing the championship but he's absolutely integral to that side. He's their best player and also English which commands a premium. I think Zinchenko did well when called upon and could bloom into a really decent player, but it's no secret there's going to be no room for him in our squad and we're not the club that will push him onto the next level. There's no guarantees at all he'll become a £40m player, although I really hope he does.

Definitely didn't say it was terrible - it's actually great business considering what we paid for him. I'm just being greedy and wanted us to get more based on other market values.

He's played very well this season. I'm surprised at this news especially as he was key for us for a few months when Delph and Mendy out.
Although he did do well for us when he played I'd hardly say he was a "key" player at any time, he only started 6 PL games plus another 2 as sub. If it wasn't for the lack of foreign spots I've little doubt he'd probably still be with us for the upcoming season but c'est la vie.

Seems to me like it would be a really good move for everyone.

I for one can't remember the last time I was this excited to see how a promoted team does, for me they have a very real chance of Europe.

That being said if he doesn't like Manchester much, just wait until February in Wolverhampton..........

It's a good deal for both clubs, and the lad. He did a creditable job in a position that he was never comfortable in. He's not going to get into our current midfield (still less, our imminent one) in a month of Sundays. If the price quoted is true I'd snap it up. I wish him nothing but the best.

If we want to strengthen our squad
by adding Jorginho and Mahrez
we need 2 foreign spots.
Yaya is out.
Who else than Zinchenko could be the other one to leave?

I like that lad as well but we have to move on and we have enough and homegrown cover at LB and even more so in midfield.

He would have gone last year if bloody Sanchez had arrived, and he was part of a great season.

We can cheer him wherever he is.

Exactly,
I have been saying the same thing, our squad is outstanding, just look at the players we have and the quality therin.
People need to remember that for every player we sign we have to lose one from our squad.
The days of us having deadwood are long behind us and so the question should be who from last seasons squad would we be prepared to let go?
The first two names that came to mind for me were Yaya and Zinch,
Now assume that we get Mahrez and Jorgino, lets fast forward 12 months who would we then look at releasing for any new signings?
It gets harder doesn't it, the club have an awesome plan ahead though due to the age spread in the team and my guesses would be Kompany, Bravo an Silva.
Every year these questions will get tougher.

Dave will play for awhile yet but Bravo/Komps are likely to be in the firing line along with anyone who is disgruntled.

Reported it is up to him if he wants to leave plus there is another club in for him but don’t know which club it is.
Isn't there a long standing interest in him from Napoli? I think they wanted him including in the Jorginho deal, but we wanted it as two separate deals.

He's a very good young player. It's just unfortunate that City haven't the time to allow young players to fully develop. If they're not already there or there about like Sterling, Sane & Jesus, we send them elsewhere to learn their trade.

I have no issue with this policy as long as we insert buy back clauses with these promising youngsters.

Yeah to be fair, i probably made my point to the wrong poster as other people had more of a problem with it. Just think people often don't look at it from other club's perspectives. The premier league is so tight, anyone outside of the top 8 could get drawn into a relegation battle. Zinchenko could turn out to be a steal at £16m but i think he's still a risk and could turn out to be a luxury type player for some premier league teams. He's looked comfortable playing in our team but we don't really know how he'd cope being a bigger fish somewhere else with a bit more expectation riding on him. Wolves look quite well set to compete in the premier league but it's stretch to say they're getting a future £40m player. I'm happy with £16m to be honest.

Genuinely disappointed tbh. I thought he did very very well and never looked out of place playing at LB, apart from (ironically) against Wolves when he was blowing out of his arse after an hour, and Pep kept him on for another hour.

Never seen him play further forward, as was apparently his natural position, but if he'd wanted it, I felt there was a decent future for him as a rotating LB

He'll progress as a number 10 though mate,as thats his best position. He was never going to play that role here and subsequently would never have reached his potential. Its a good move for the kid and 16m is decent money, although i think it will prove to be a bargain in a couple of years.

good player...who never played in his actual position with us...all the best to him if true

good profit for us

Probably back to 02/03 for me

Happy with this, good bit of money for us and a good move for him. Had a few good moments in games but never looked anything special. Obviously nowhere near the pecking order in his position and even if we were low on numbers there we’d go out and buy someone.

Well indeed I remember I was away for the start of the 1989-90 season and I spent an hour trying to find an English paper just so I could see the scores(we lost 3-1 at Liverpool but I remember feeling so excited just to know we where back!!!(little did I know that it would be 3-1 in league titles to us since then!!!)

Interesting business. Pep clearly had faith in the lad but 16mil is good business for the club. Be interesting where he plays if this goes through.
