It doesn’t feel that long ago but today (14/3) is the anniversary of the 1st derby at the COM/Etihad Stadium. A memorable thrashing of Utd from 2004. Story etc. here:

Great memory, well documented , Gary.

What a day. In the beehive in Whitefield at 9am having bacon butties and beer then headed into town about dinner time, great result and great atmosphere, took the piss out of the rags and then back into the beehive at about 8pm to finish the day off.

God knows how I did it but there's no way I'd be able to do that now.

Great game. Was working in a pub at the time and the atmosphere was brilliant. Rags were very quiet.

After the game we turned over to the cricket and watched Steve Harmison take 7-12 as England bowled out The West Indies for 47

“Some final charge wasn’t it? Pick that one out…..good night!”

Remember it going mad when Fowler scored really early on, similar to when Anelka scored at the last Maine Road derby. The SWP goal was the icing on the cake.

Had £20 scorecast on Fowler and 3-1 (@125/1) so SWP's screamer was a bit of a mixed-bag for me! Last minute of injury time - I'd have been the one looking a bit shell-shocked in ES3 back then. What a day though...

At 3-1 the bloke sat 2 rows in front of me was very happy. He had his betting slip out saying 3-1 and the name of the first scorer correct...... happy as Larry and waving his betting slip around - then SWP does his thing right in front of us. Everyone goes ballistic - apart from the bloke with the betting slip. Sits with his head in his hands and then rips his slip up and throws the pieces in the air.

Edit - just read the post above! Ha! This was in the family stand 2nd tier

I’ve got a feeling , that was me !!
Memory fades but I was in 204 I think , next to the aisle . If it wasn’t me, my expression was exactly the same .
Had my revenge a couple of years later when I had the same scorer/score . I was informed in the bookies in Piccadilly Gardens that Fowler wasn’t starting so switched him to last goal scorer .
The United supporting woman was laughing when she took the bet .
She wasn’t when we returned afterwards to collect £1300 ish .

Behind the goal slightly to the right in 237
