Was the Munich air disaster, 21 lives were lost(7 rag players and City's very own Frank Swift)

Could we leave out any insults(unless aimed at me ;) ) You just know rags will be on the look out reporting to Rag cafe head quaters.

RIP all who lost their lives, especially Frank Swift and Duncan Edwards. I am old enough to remember that day well. The sense of loss and horror in Manchester that day was poignant.

Whichever team you support that was an horrific day.

God bless them all.

R.I.P to all who died that day

Manchester (Red & Blue) remembers

The trainer, coach and secretary, and a member of the crew,
Also eight sporting journalists who with United flew,
and one of them Big Swifty, who we'll never forget,
the finest English 'keeper that ever graced the net

Taken from the flowers of Manchester poem

RIP all those who died that day. I was privileged to have lunch with City's Life President Sidney Rose a few years ago about this time of year. He was an orthopaedic surgeon and went out to Munich to help treat the injured (I think he spoke German hence why he was doubly useful). He spoke very movingly about the battle to save Duncan Edwards, who looked outwardly healthy but, as they later discovered, was suffering massive kidney damage which they were unable to diagnose or do anything about. Even nearly 50 years later the emotion of that time clearly overwhelmed him.

There was also a personal connection as a man called Willie Satinoff died on that plane. He was a huge United fan, about to go on the board and could well have been the next chairman. He was also owner of the company my uncle was a director of and therefore well known to our family so for me there's a personal connection to the tragedy.

It was a tragic event no doubt, but on the scale of tragedies in this country alone it ranks very low indeed, I am sorry I don't go for all this mock mourning in the media and at United, sure it's respectful to commemorate, but having it rammed down our throats at every opportunity, like it gives that club some divine right to be at the top.

Agree with this, the anniversary etc is all over the top.

Footballing tragedy, horrific tragedy all the same.
