Would have been nice to keep this thread just for people to pay their respects to the dead, and leave the slating of united (of which a lot is justified) for another day.

just a thought!

totally agree.

we mourn the loss of life, united players/ officials etc.

they were just going about their jobs, jobs they did very well indeed.

cut all the shit out,pay your respects and please no more tribal warfare.

or feel welcome to ignore this thread.

Thank you de niro, as I said earlier I am old enough to remember the tragedy and the tears I cried over ALL the people who died and I posted my RIP in good faith. I didn't expect to come back and find that the thread had been hijacked by disrespect.

For those who say other Manchester disasters happened, yes they did and they will be remembered in their respective forum areas, this is a football forum and we remember the football tragedy.

Just my humble opinion.

Dennis Viollet used to be my games teacher at school in the mid sixties......a decent bloke.

We should remember one of our finest ever goalkeepers Big Frank Swift perished in the tragedy whilst working as a newspaper reporter.

RIP all who perished.

football banter is one thing but death is not something to be joked about. one of the proudest moments to be a city fan was the away end at old trafford for the 50 year anniversary.

RIP

No ones joking mate,just questioning.
wasnt insinuating about this forum buddy. i was just reffering to the occasional munich chants that can be heard at matches.

Those that do that are sad fucks.

Nah, the munich memorial is free. You can walk under the old main stand and pay your respects without out parting with any money. Walked under there at xmas with a plastic from Norwich who was in Manchester for the day.

God rest them, Frank especially. How Un***d have gone about "respecting" their dead in the years following the disaster is quite disgusting though, and yet rival football fans of them are spoken of as scum (not that i'm condoning what they do) when they even mention the Munich disaster.

I always show my respect but united fans showed what they were all about at the semi finals in the fa and league cup, plus the constant insults thrown in city's direction from people like ferguson and charlton makes very hard for certain individuals to become sympathetic, not a very nice club also their history of their dealings towards the deceased and survivors has been nothing short of a disgrace. Something that as been completely overlooked by the arse licking media and majority of their plastic fans. A lot of older city fans like myself have always showed our respects towards the tragedy even more so than the some of the spoilt young brats that go to Trafford.
