Liverpool are on an awful run of form, the worst in who knows how long. Their manager is under fire, trying to save his job, and we are one point ahead of them?

I said the run of games. Yes Chelsea lost to Wigan, but United beat them 5-0 at the DW stadium and pompey just put 4 past them. Yes Liverpool lost to Fulham but they did have 9 men thanks to some comical refereeing and they are missing Gerrard, Agger, Arbeloa, Aquilani, Torres isnt 100%.

What were doing looks good, this seem ok. But its papering over the cracks. When we start loosing games you can put you mortagage on the teams around us winning.

Liverpool were losing before they had any men sent off.

We are missing Adebayor, Toure, Robinho. Our best striker, creative player and defender. RSC is not 100%.

Liverpools awful run of form includes 3 cup defeats. Two in the CL and one in the league cup. So their league form isn't quite as bad as you might think. Yet here we are a point ahead of them with a game in hand. The side who lost just twice all last season and missed out on the league by 4 points.

?The last 4 games have been incredibly frustrating. But we are selling ourselves completely short with the most unrealistic of expectations. One defeat in 14 if you include Barcelona and in the top 4 with a game in hand says serious progress. As the balance of the side becomes more apparent, our injured players return, the January window comes, I see us being in incredibly good shape for 2010.

I think youve missed my point, were going to have a run of games against teams a lot better than those weve played at the minute and given the way we ar eplaying we wont be picking up the kind of points we are now.

Yes were 4th, but im posting these things now so that when, in my opinion, we find ourselves looking up at 4th position with envy, people wont be saying, where were you when it was going well. Everything is there, the squad is good enough. The team isnt.

The problem I can see is that the team aren't playing as well as we were last season. We're getting by on individual flahes of class and work rate. We are really lacking vision and creativity in midfield. We don't need De Jong and Barry in there, if Ireland has lost his Mojo then we're fooked till Jan.
