I am surprised none of the Arsenal players bring up Wengers salary when they are negotiating contracts. I imagine mr Van Persie will bring it up over the summer.hertsblue said:9 mill a year and he moans about our spending.

It's more important to come in the top 4 now than win trophies. Liverpool would swap their carling cup trophy for 3rd in league in order to play in the champions league everyday of the week and twice on Sundays.Bluenjamin said:9 million a year and not won anything for 7 years?

So in recent years, (six/seven) he has been paid a great deal of money to be,
1. His first and foremost priority, a property developer who doesn't risk his own cash. Fantastic stadium and the move had to happen to bring in the cash to remain competitive at the highest level.
2. An academy coach who sells his players, in the main, just as they reach their peak and are at the top of their game, clearly too profit.
3. A manager who constantly keeps the side playing CL football (though his margin of success this year was just one point plus a few more goals scored than Tottenham), so he can balance the books.
4. Be the 'ideas man' backing the board, a group of very wealthy individuals who profit while the supporters are charged some of the highest ticket prices in the country. Yet they have hardly had a sniff of a good day watching their side win anything.(I know CC final, I admit then a sniff)
5. Maintain a wage cap (whilst pocketing a very handsome wedge himself).
Clearly a money man, I was led to believe he was a ''proper football man'' who's team plays football ''the proper way''.
I think he has lost his way. Or has he, is his primary objective to make money not win honors?
